Imagineer Scott Trowbridge played Easter Bunny for Star Wars fans today when he announced new Star Tours destinations would be coming to the attractions at three Disney theme parks in 2024.

Several announcements were made during the Walt Disney Imagineering panel at Star Wars Celebration 2023 in London regarding Star Wars-themed experiences at Disney theme parks, and while Trowbridge announced new Star Tours destinations will be coming in 2024, the details remain a bit fuzzy.

New Star Tours Destinations

Trowbridge stated that, next year, Disney will add more stories and characters to Star Tours at three Disney destinations worldwide – Disneyland Park in California, Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, and Disneyland Paris in France. However, he did not reveal the exact details.

Star Tours

His statements suggest the new Star Tours destinations will be locations from the Star Wars universe we have yet to see before on film. Based on that implication, we suspect some of the new Disney+ Star Wars shows will introduce those areas before they appear in the Star Tours attractions. New scenes have been added to Star Tours in the past based on locations from some of the franchise’s newer films.

New Star Wars Music

The panel reminded the audience that the new playlist from DJ R3X that was just released, which features several of tracks guests may hear when visiting Oga’s Cantina on Batuu.

Similarly, Disney announced that a new Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser playlist will launch next month on streaming platforms to celebrate Star Wars Day (May the 4th). This soundtrack includes songs from galactic superstar Gaya, the star performer guests can see during their immersive Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser journey onboard the Halcyon. Disney also revealed that it is working on a special 12-inch vinyl pressing of Gaya’s music.

More Star Wars Characters

Finally, the Disney Imagineers implied at the London event that new characters would be coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in California and Florida. Disney has been slowly introducing characters from the Disney+ Star Wars shows to Galaxy’s Edge. Most recently, The Mandalorian and very popular Grogu are prime examples.

The Mandalorian and Grogu in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

Logic dictates that Star Wars characters from upcoming Disney+ shows will appear in Galaxy’s Edge. Perhaps we will see Ahsoka, Ezra Bridger, or maybe Jude Law’s character from “Skeleton Crew.” With the popularity of Boba Fett and Fennec Shand at Disneyland, along with Grogu and the Mandalorian, Disney likely wants to increase the Star Wars character presence. We will let others debate the timeline issue of some of those characters entering Batuu.

Once again, we have no concrete information about any new Star Tours destinations or new characters in Galaxy’s Edge. Still, putting the pieces together leads us to conclude that more Disney+ Star Wars presence in Disney theme parks will be happening.
