The Bobcat wooden roller coaster now open at Six Flags Great Escape
The Bobcat, a new wooden roller coaster, opened June 1, 2024 at Six Flags Great Escape in Queensbury, N.Y., replacing the park’s former Alpine Bobsled.

The Bobcat, Park’s First New Coaster in Two Decades
Over the past few years, a handful of parks nationwide have modernized existing wooden coasters (like Iron Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, for example). This is not that. The Bobcat is completely new — the first new coaster at Six Flags Great Escape since 2003, and the first new wooden coaster in the state of New York since 1999.

The Bobcat Stats
Maximum speed: Nearly 40 mph
Maximum peak: 55 feet
Height requirement: 42 inches

The Bobcat was manufactured by The Gravity Group, which specializes in wooden coasters. The Gravity Group also built Mine Blower at Fun Spot America and Oscar’s Wacky Taxi at Sesame Place Philadelphia, among other rides.
Six Flags Great Escape celebrates its 70th anniversary with this summer’s operating season.
