Bugs Bunny at the Symphony is back in Los Angeles for the first time in eight years with an all-new family-friendly experience at a new venue.

The performance features 16 beloved classics projected on screen as a live symphony orchestra plays the original scores by Carl Stalling and Mily Franklyn, like What’s Opera, Doc?, The Rabbit of Seville, Long-Haired Hare, Corny Concerto, Baton Bunny. In addition, new shorts never before seen in Los Angeles include Dynamite Dance, Wet Cement, Fur of Flying, and the return of the Chuck Jones-directed, Oscar-nominated short High Note after 25 years.

“The joy of this concert is to see the orchestra and the single big animation screen all at the same time,” said Emmy Award-winning co-creator/conductor George Daugherty. “There is a joyous, irresistible – and frequently, hilarious – synergy and synchronization between Bugs Bunny’s musical hijinks on the big screen, and the live musicians below on the stage. The Microsoft Theater’s perfect configuration gives us the opportunity to accentuate and magnify the brilliant connection between music and animation which has always been the brilliance of these iconic Looney Tunes masterpieces.”

But that’s not all, folks! The deluxe gala experience also offers special Looney Tunes-themed activities before and during the show.

Bugs Bunny at the Symphony Includes:

  • An animation art exhibition of rare production cels from the actual shorts featured in the concert
  • Animation artwork stations featuring animation artists from the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity, who will demonstrate the process of creating an animated short
  • Green screen kiosks where audience members can get “snapped” in Looney Tunes backgrounds
  • Meet-and-greet photo ops with Looney Tunes characters from Six Flags Magic Mountain
  • Emmy Award-nominated voiceover artist Bob Bergen (the voice of Porky Pig) will pay tribute to the legendary Mel Blanc and other iconic Looney Tunes voices.
  • Guests are invited to come in costume and participate in a costume contest, with the best-costumed guests earning the chance to shine on stage.

“When we were all growing up and watching Looney Tunes on Saturday morning, we didn’t realize we were also getting a massive lesson in classical music,” Daugherty said. “Bugs Bunny at the Symphony is the perfect opportunity to bring today’s kids to the symphony orchestra and appreciate the beauty of classical music while getting a hilarious twist from Bugs Bunny and his cohorts. More importantly, it’s a chance for adults of all ages to rekindle their affection for these brilliant animated shorts, and relive a truly nostalgic and magical part of their childhoods.”
