Busch Gardens Tampa Bay adds new daytime events

Two new family-friendly daytime experiences at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay are bringing even more summer fun to the weekends. Now, before they settle in for the Summer Nights fireworks and laser show, park guests can experience an all-new animal education program and share a special — and physically distant — photo-op with Big Bird.

Wildly Amazing! An Inside Look at Animal Care” gives guests a chance to learn about some of Busch Garden’s lesser-known animals, including adorable echidnas (an Australian relative of the platypus). Presented by the zoological team that cares for the park’s cheetahs, parrots, Komodo dragons, and other animal residents, the presentation also explains what all of us can do at home to protect our wild world. Capacity in the Stanleyville Theater will be limited to allow for physical distancing during these new presentations, which will take place at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays from Aug. 15-23.

The biggest news in Tampa is that Big Bird is back! On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from July 31 to Aug. 9, Sesame Street fans can experience a one-of-a-kind character connection and snap a physically distant photo with Big Bird at Gwazi Pavilion, which has been modified to follow the park’s enhanced health and safety measures. Guests looking for more Muppet friends can check out Sesame Street Safari of Fun for storytime and the toe-tapping “Let’s Play Together!” show.

But the fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. The Summer Nights food, fun, and fireworks are continuing on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through Aug. 16, featuring an exciting laser and fireworks show each night at 9 p.m. on the Festival Field, where every socially distanced seat has a perfect view. Guests can also enjoy the fireworks from viewing locations throughout the park.

During Summer Nights, the biggest backyard BBQ in town offers delicious twists on summertime classics like loaded mac-n-cheese, sweet chili pepper glazed wings, and brisket chop sandwiches. Park-goers can also sample sweet treats, including chocolate oreo explosion, red velvet cheesecake, spiced apple salted caramel, and chocolate chocolate chip s’mores cupcakes. Plus, guests who still have punches left on their 2020 Food & Wine Sampler Lanyards can use them for select food and beverage items at participating locations.
