Butterbeer Season began March 1 and runs until May 31, 2025, with fun food and beverage options inspired by the famous Wizarding World of Harry Potter beverage, including the new Butterbeer Cream Puff. The treats and merchandise at Universal Orlando function as part of the worldwide Butterbeer Season celebration.

Two new treats are available during Butterbeer Season 2025: the Butterbeer Cream Puff and a Butterbeer-flavored chocolate bar.

Guests can find the Butterbeer Cream Puff at Three Broomsticks (at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade in Universal Islands of Adventure) and Leaky Cauldron (at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley in Universal Studios Florida).

Universal Orlando also announced in a press release that the Butterbeer-flavored chocolate bar would be available at retail locations during Butterbeer Season. However, Universal team members at multiple retail locations told us it’s not available yet, but we expected it to be soon. We found the Butterbeer-flavored chocolate bar on March 22. We will include some photos and a brief review later in this article.

The Butterbeer Cream Puff costs $6.99 before any applicable discount. To purchase this treat, guests should expect to use the mobile ordering system at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter dining locations. This usually involves being seated and then ordering using the Universal Orlando mobile app.

The menu description reads, “Cookie and Butterbeer filling with a butter-whipped topping and Butterbeer sauce.” As you can tell, Butterbeer serves as the dominant flavor.

The presentation of the Butterbeer Cream Puff earns respect, starting the dining process on a good note. Still, we detected early on that this might be a messy treat. We were correct. However, that did not detract from our enjoyment of the cream puff.

Did we mention it could be messy?

The base pastry component works well, especially for something that will be mass-produced in a busy theme park quick service restaurant. The pastry offers just the right amount of softness while still being sturdy enough to enjoy.

The filling reminded us of Bavarian cream we have enjoyed at Voodoo Doughnut, located at Universal CityWalk Orlando. For the record, this counts as a good thing.

The other components of this Butterbeer Season treat complement the cream puff nicely. The candy pearls on the whipped cream fit well. They provide a reasonable texture change for this dessert. The cookie on top with “Butterbeer” written on it tastes like a shortbread cookie. That balances nicely with the sweet Butterbeer flavors. We enjoyed the clever touch of a butterscotch drizzle around the cream puff.

Speaking of sweet Butterbeer flavors, we would not recommend ordering a Butterbeer beverage to pair with this cream puff. That amount of sugary goodness could become a bad thing very quickly. Sugar overload appears likely, even for trained professionals.

Ranking the Butterbeer Cream Puff vs. other Harry Potter treats

Our experience eating this new Wizarding World of Harry Potter treat on the opening day of Butterbeer Season was primarily positive. After completing the cream puff, we attempted to rank it unofficially among the Universal’s Butterbeer treats.

We still prefer soft-serve Butterbeer Ice Cream over the cream puff, but it is equal to or better than many others. Nevertheless, this makes a fabulous addition to sweet treats of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. In fact, we hope that it stays after Butterbeer Season ends on May 31, 2025.

We found the Butterbeer-flavored chocolate bar at the main Universal Studios Store at Universal CityWalk Orlando. This treat costs $10.00 before applicable discounts. The candy bar comes in an impressive wrapping that should please any Wizarding World of Harry Potter fan.

The Butterbeer-flavored chocolate bar is very thin for a candy bar, but that does not diminish its taste. The candy bar tastes far more like Butterbeer than the Butterbeer Cream Puff. The candy bar tasted mostly like butterscotch and vanilla. Since those are key ingredients to Universal Orlando’s Butterbeer, we call this candy bar a success.

Butterbeer was first introduced in the 2004 film “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.” For many Harry Potter fans, this beverage became a must-have item when visiting Universal theme parks.

For Butterbeer Season 2025, guests can purchase a collectible Butter Cart filled with Butterbeer-flavored candies. The barrels of Butterbeer stacked on the top of the cart open to reveal the gummy candies inside. Frequent visitors to Universal Orlando Resort have seen this available year-round.

A souvenir Butterbeer Stein returned from last year. In addition, the Butterbeer Caramels and Butterbeer Ice Lolly “apparated” back for 2025. Of course, guests can enjoy the classic (and year-round) Butterbeer drinks, ice cream, fudge, and potted cream during their visit to Universal Orlando
