Carowinds announces new mat racing waterslide, Grand Carnivale festival
A new waterslide racing attraction is coming to Carowinds in summer 2020, along with a nighttime international festival and street party.

On Boogie Board Racer, the longest mat racing slide in the Southeast, guests will ascend to almost 60 feet, take a mat and choose one of six lanes where they’ll wait for the green light to start their race. Riders will zoom through tubes, high-speed chutes and a 360-degree loop before a final drop leading into the splashdown finish line.

Boogie Board Racer will be the first new attraction added to Carolina Harbor since it was expanded and re-themed in 2016. This slide will be located near the park’s newest coaster, Copperhead Strike.

Also coming in 2020 is Grand Carnivale, a nighttime celebration of global culture. The festival will feature signature beverages and a special menu, along with “The Spectacle of Color” parade featuring extravagant floats and costumed street performers. The festival will run nightly at the park from June 13 – July 5, 2020.

“The new Boogie Board Racer water slide will amp up the adrenaline in our world-class Carolina Harbor waterpark and our guests will crave its exciting twists and turns as they compete against friends in this fan-favorite racing attraction,” said Pat Jones, vice president and general manager of Carowinds. “And we’re going all out with Grand Carnivale, the largest summertime event ever held at Carowinds.”
