Cedar Fair will open Cedar Point Esports gaming facility next month
Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, known for their amusement parks, water parks, and entertainment, has announced the Cedar Point Esports gaming venue with virtual experiences will open Oct. 6, 2023, in Sandusky, Ohio.
The new gaming facility located inside the current Cedar Point Sports Center will be over 1,000 square feet, providing opportunities for guests to game solo, with a group, rent an area, and more. This first phase will have 32 state-of-the-art gaming stations with the latest hardware and peripherals. The library of games will continue to grow as well.
The focus will be on organizing leagues, camps, and clinics for esports athletes (or those aspiring to be). Cedar Point’s overall goal is to create a hub for “gaming enthusiasts and competitive gamers,” which offers a spot to engage in and enjoy their passion for gaming.
”Our long-term strategy is focused on delivering immersive entertainment experiences that differentiate our parks and make our guests want to come back again and again,” said Richard A. Zimmerman, Cedar Fair president and chief executive officer. “The opening of Cedar Point Esports marks a significant step for us as we diversify our offerings and engage with a broader audience. Given the booming popularity of esports, we are excited about this opportunity to tap into the growing appetite for that form of entertainment and package it with all that Cedar Point has to offer.”
This first phase will also offer an opportunity for traditional (non-gaming) athletes as access to virtual sports provides a low-impact activity, which is beneficial for recovery between athletic competitions, or simply for entertainment.
In addition, Cedar Point Esports hopes to become the spot for gaming events in the area, including both high school and college gaming events. They believe collaborating with educational institutions can encourage and promote healthy competition among younger gaming fans by creating a sense of camaraderie.
Cedar Point Esports Partnered with North Coast Entertainment
For the new Esports facility, Cedar Point partnered with North Coast Entertainment, a company with experience in the area of gaming.
“North Coast Entertainment is delighted to collaborate with Cedar Point Esports,” said Scott Norcross, president of North Coast Entertainment. “Together, we aim to bring innovative gaming experiences to the players and fans. This facility will not only serve as a competitive battleground for esports athletes, but also as a nurturing ground for anyone interested in gaming.”
Pricing
A game pass will be $10 per hour on weekdays and $12 on weekends. Availability will be first come, first served. For more information on Cedar Point Esports.
