Celebrate Disney100 at Walt Disney World Resort
If you were sad to see the end of Walt Disney World’s 50th-anniversary celebration, cheer up because Disney100 at Walt Disney World is bringing new magical offerings to commemorate Disney’s momentous milestone, including Disney100 photo backdrops at all four theme parks.
The Disney100 celebration at the Disneyland Resort kicked off in January with the debut of “Wondrous Journeys,” “World of Color – One,” and much more, but now it’s Walt Disney World’s turn to join the party.
Disney100 at Epcot
As the center of Walt Disney World Resort’s Disney100 celebration, Epcot will debut a new Disney100 Spaceship Earth display later in 2023 that showcases favorite Disney stories.
“We’re excited to have Spaceship Earth ring in the biggest celebration yet, the 100th Anniversary of the Walt Disney Company,” said Jason Read, show lighting designer principal for Walt Disney Imagineering. “We’re inspired by many things from the history of the company, its characters, theme parks, and shows – even the Disney100 opening logo that plays before our feature films during this anniversary. You may see homages to everything from the ‘Wonderful World of Disney’ television show opening to Mickey balloons that we sell on Main Street, U.S.A.”
Epcot will also be the place for photo ops with Mickey and Minnie in their new platinum outfits. Details on when and where you can meet them will be announced soon.
Disney100 Food and Beverages at Walt Disney World
Beginning May 1, 2023, Walt Disney World guests can enjoy the limited-time Disney100 Petite Cake at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs, featuring layers of vanilla chiffon, berry mousse, and berry compote, all topped with a celebratory Disney100 Medallion macaron.
“The inspiration of this cake pulls from the rich purple and platinum colors used for the Disney100 celebration,” said Walt Disney World chef Amanda. “The drapery on the sides of the cake represents the traditional bunting that adorns Main Street, U.S.A., for special occasions. And of course, Mickey Mouse is proudly represented on the front of the cake because as we all know: ‘It all started with a mouse.'”
Disney100 Merch at Walt Disney World
You may have already noticed Disney100 items popping up in stores at Walt Disney World, but there’s even more magical merch to come, including a new Disney100 Cinderella popcorn bucket (exclusive to Magic Kingdom).
Several limited-release Disney100 merchandise collections are already available across the Walt Disney World Resort, including the Disney100 Platinum Celebration collection, the Disney100 Unified Character collection, and the Disney100 Decades 40s collection featuring “Fantasia,” “The Three Caballeros,” “Pinocchio,” and “Dumbo.”
In addition, Disney100 refillable cups are available now at the Disney Resort hotels, and popcorn buckets are available at all four theme parks and Disney Springs.
Characters at Walt Disney World Resort
Mickey and Minnie aren’t the only characters celebrating Disney’s 100th anniversary. As the Disney100 celebration gets underway at Walt Disney World, other favorite Disney characters will also be dressed in their platinum best – and, who knows, they may even pop up unexpectedly at Disney Resort hotels.
