Character guide for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2025

Spooky season has officially returned to Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. If you’re looking for Disney characters at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, you’ll find plenty of them, from Disney villains (Maleficent!) to friendly faces dressed in their Halloween costumes (Donald Duck as a pumpkin!), and, of course, your party host himself, Mickey Mouse.

Difference between distanced sightings and meet & greets

Distanced sightings

During distanced character sightings, characters stand on an elevated platform (or behind a barrier) away from guests and interact with partygoers from a distance, usually as guests walk through a trick-or-treat trail. You can talk to the characters and take a selfie, but you won’t be able to hug them, pose with them for a formal family photo, or retrieve autographs like you would during a traditional meet & greet. (Think covid-era character greetings and you’re on the right track.)

New for 2025, Mother Gothel from 2010’s “Tangled” makes her Walt Disney World debut during a distanced sighting in the Main Street bypass as guests enter the party. This marks Mother Gothel’s first time ever at Disney World after appearing at other Disney parks globally.

Distanced characters at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party are not listed in the My Disney Experience app.

Meet & greets

Traditional meet & greets involve standing in a line and waiting your turn for an individualized moment with the characters, including photos and hugs. Due to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party being a special event, characters may or may not sign autographs.

Character greeting times and specific locations can be found in the My Disney Experience app, but only while Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is happening. This means if you look at the app earlier in the day, the Magic Kingdom map won’t display the party characters yet. (It also means if you’re planning an upcoming trip, open the app on a party night to get a lay of the land.)

• Goofy and Daisy meet together, but without Minnie and Donald as they have in years past

Disney Junior Jam

Several characters at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dance the night away at Disney Junior Jam, located inside Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café in Tomorrowland. You might be able to grab a selfie, but they’re primarily there to dance with guests rather than pose for photos.
