The past year may have been challenging, but the holidays will still be merry and bright at the Christmas Grotto and Gatsby Christmas Dinner Show at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in Blackpool, England.
One of Britain’s most famous vacation destinations pulls out all the stops this year with the return of their fanciful Christmas Grotto, a veritable winter wonderland, and the elegant Gatsby Christmas Dinner Show.
Santa Claus will be in residence at the Christmas Grotto, taking children’s holiday wishes in a COVID-safe environment. Mrs. Claus greets visitors and guides them through Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s delightful North Pole for their meeting with the jolly old elf, while Santa’s helper elves ensure each child takes home a little something to place under their Christmas tree. Youngsters can also enjoy hot chocolate with marshmallows while visiting the grotto.
In addition, children can choose and stuff their favorite cuddly bear at the Create Your Own Bear Workshop. Each bear includes a Love Heart with the child’s chosen sentiment, and a special Bear Certificate. Purchase this experience as an add-on when booking online and save £3.99 per bear (£10 online, £14 at the gate; $13.33/$18.66).
The park’s managing director, Amanda Thompson OBE, shares her thoughts: “We love celebrating Christmas at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and we always pride ourselves on delivering special seasonal events. We’re looking forward to seeing all the excited children. It has been a strange time for all of us, and we can’t wait to sprinkle some festive magic for all the families at our fabulous Christmas Grotto.”
The Christmas Grotto will be open from 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday from Dec. 5-20, then daily until Dec. 24. Tickets for entry to the area are £13.99 ($18.66) when purchased in advance, and £15.99 ($21.33) at the gate. Two adults per booking will be allowed into the grotto for free, and parking is also free. To purchase tickets, visit BlackpoolPleasureBeach.com/ChristmasGrotto.
Then, celebrate the season amid the glitz and glamour of the dazzling Gatsby Dinner Show, featuring beautifully costumed singers, dancers, and variety acts performing onstage while you dine.
Thompson says, “The performers really are so talented, and have been rehearsing tirelessly to deliver something amazing for guests. It will be a fantastic experience for families, couples, and ‘bubbles’ alike, and we welcome all to join us.”
The sumptuous three-course meal includes traditional British Christmas fare of turkey and all the trimmings, capped off with succulent puddings set alight for a festive finale. Alcohol is available for order until 10 p.m., and each meal is prepared and served with COVID-19 safety in mind so that diners can enjoy with confidence.
“We’re thrilled to be going ahead with our Christmas Dinner Show this year,” Thompson says. “Even if it’s a little different than usual, we promise guests will be able to enjoy a spectacular festive evening. Our team have worked incredibly hard to ensure the venue is safe and secure, with all of the correct procedures in place so we’re good to go.”
Gatsby Christmas Dinner Show takes place in the Casino building’s Paradise room at 7 p.m. from Dec. 4-19, at a cost of £39.99 ($53.32) per adult and £29 ($38.66) per child ages 11 and under for dinner and the show, or £23 per adult/£18 per child ($30.66/$24) for the show only.
