The VR roller coaster experience, titled Stand by Me Doraemon 2 XR – The Ride, will be open to guests for a limited time until Jan. 6 2021, per Japan Times. The ride is largely inspired by the recent animated feature, “Stand by Me Doraemon 2.”

On the ride, guests will don VR goggles and climb aboard “Time Scooters” to get a sneak peek at Nobita’s future wedding with Doraemon. But just as the wedding is about to start, the grown-up Nobita steals Doraemon’s time machine and disappears through time!

Guests will see Nobita’s hometown transform from a dinosaur-filled Cretaceous wilderness into a futuristic city of tomorrow as they travel on this epic journey through time and space.

The VR experience can be found at the location for Space Fantasy – The Ride, and there is a required height of 48 inches to ride. All VR goggles are sterilized with alcohol for safety.

As a reminder, face coverings are required to be worn at all times while visiting Universal Studios Japan. You can learn more about Stand by Me Doraemon 2 XR – The Ride here and watch the trailer for the ride below:
