Cinderella Castle rose gold ’50th Anniversary update’ nearly complete at Magic Kingdom

Earlier this year, Walt Disney World announced plans to revamp the look of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom. This new update would add deep blues, gold accents, and a rosy pink hue to the castle. We went by Magic Kingdom today to get a look and share a preview of what’s to come.

As you can clearly see, a lot of work has been done since the parks temporarily closed in March. Many portions of the castle appear finished, but some other sections still need more work.

This side-profile shot gives a good example of work still to be done. Looking closely, you can see portions of the castle are still painted white.

The currently-unfinished portions can be seen more easily here. Some of the gold further down on the castle does not have the extreme shine and shimmer as the main tower. Some of the blue tower roofs are currently different shades.

In the front of the castle, most of the work appears to be done, but we’re not sure if the castle requires another coat of paint or minor additional details. The concept image below appears to closely align with what we are currently seeing.

The concept art appears to show less pink and more white, but the gold has the same strong shimmer. Perhaps the paint requires another coat, or this concept’s lighting slightly skews the final product’s color.

While we currently cannot get into the parks, we can enjoy this view for now. We edited out the crane in the above image for a free phone background. Simply click the image for a full-size view you can download.

A change in the look of Cinderella Castle could be deemed controversial to die-hard fans. Every little change to the park does alter its original look that many fans never want to leave. But, updates and overlays also help to bring in many wonderful new additions.

We want to know your opinion on what many have called the “rose gold” castle. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
