More crazy milkshakes are about to seen at Disney Springs. We were fortunate enough to be invited out, in advance of the opening day, to try some of Black Tap’s signature Crazyshakes. The new pop-up, officially named Crazyshake by Black Tap, promises over-the-top desserts designed to be just as photogenic as they are indulgent.

The location will open at noon each day. Guests should be aware the current agreement is for only 90 days with this Crazyshake Disney Springs pop-up, but it could be extended. Located in the heart of Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort, this limited-time experience is expected to draw dessert lovers, influencers, and theme park fans alike.

What is Crazyshake by Black Tap?

Crazyshake Disney Springs

Crazyshake by Black Tap is a specialty pop-up concept from Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer, the restaurant brand known for its award-winning burgers and legendary milkshakes. If you’ve ever seen a milkshake topped with a full slice of cake, an entire candy bar, cookies, or even cotton candy, that’s what CrazyShakes are all about. These towering creations are served in containers rimmed with frosting and rolled in candy, sprinkles, or cookie crumbles before the shake is even poured.

At Crazyshake Disney Springs, guests can expect:

  • Massive, fully loaded CrazyShake
  • Over-the-top candy and cookie toppings
  • Instagram-ready presentation
  • Shareable dessert creations
  • Each shake is designed to be a full dessert experience
  • They are often large enough to share, if you do that sort of thing

Crazyshake Disney Springs: A sweet takeover

Black Tap has several locations, including one at Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort. Those locations serve a variety of cuisine, such as burgers and sandwiches. However, the Crazyshake Disney pop-up will focus solely on the Crazyshake menu items. The new location takes over the former Sprinkles storefront at Disney Springs, transforming the space into a dessert destination.

Given Disney Springs’ steady foot traffic and reputation for unique culinary offerings, the location feels like a natural fit for the larger-than-life dessert concept.

The Disney Springs menu will include:

  • BAM BAM Shake – vanilla frosted rim with fruity pebbles topped with a fruity pebbles rice krispy treat, strawberry pop tart, laffy taffy, whipped cream & a cherry
  • Cookie Shake – vanilla frosted rim with cookie crumbles topped with a ‘cookiewich’, crumbled cookies, chocolate chips, whipped cream & chocolate drizzle
  • Cookies ’n Cream Supreme – vanilla frosted rim with crushed oreos topped with a ‘cookies ’n cream’ sandwich, crumbled oreo, whipped cream & chocolate drizzle
  • Brooklyn Blackout – chocolate frosted rim with mini chocolate chips topped with two chocolate brownies, whipped cream & chocolate drizzle

Why Crazyshake Disney Springs is generating buzz

Part of what makes CrazyShakes so popular is its undeniable visual appeal. In today’s social media landscape, presentation matters, and these milkshakes were practically designed for TikTok and Instagram.

Watching one being made and handed across the counter often turns into a mini event of its own, with guests pulling out their phones before taking the first sip. Still, beyond the visuals, the flavors are rich, sweet, and indulgent. These are not subtle desserts. They are full-on sugar celebrations.

Crazyshake Disney Springs: Our experience

Crazyshake Disney Springs
Mickey Crazyshake

We were able to try the Crazyshakes at Disney Springs before the anticipated crowd of people starting March 2. In my dining adventures, I have enjoyed a Crazyshake before. Thus, I knew what to expect

Additionally, the obvious comparison will be to the photo-worthy milkshakes at Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen at Universal CityWalk Orlando. (Planet Hollywood at Disney Springs also features some “crazy-looking” shakes.) Since I have tasted every milkshake at Toothsome Chocolate Emporium, including the latest Carnavale Concha Shake, the comparisons were inevitable.

Before discussing the two Crazyshakes I tried, I have to mention the innovative container they use. Each one comes in a plastic container with a ridge to catch the falling pieces, such as sprinkles or icing. Our biggest concern with Toothsome milkshakes is that the sprinkles fall off. This container solves that, allowing guests not to miss a bite. I tried two: the Mickey Crazyshake and the Bam Bam Crazyshake. Finishing the Toothsome comparison, these shakes are a different style but equal in quality.

The Mickey Crazyshake is a decadent, shareable treat that prioritizes high-quality components and an impressive presentation. While the thick consistency and Florida heat pose slight practical challenges, the flavor profile and textures make it a standout dessert.

Mickey Crazyshake key highlights

  • Premium Ingredients: The shake features high-quality “solid” components, including top-tier rock candy and a Rice Krispie treat made with professional-grade fondant that pairs perfectly with the base.
  • Elevated Aesthetics: The vanilla frosting rim adorned with sprinkles significantly boosts both the flavor and the visual appeal. The container is also effectively designed to catch falling sprinkles, keeping the experience cleaner.
  • Texture & Consistency: True to its name, the milkshake is notably thick, requiring some effort to drink through a straw, and is topped with a generous amount of whipped cream. We suggest just using a spoon.
  • Practical Considerations: Due to its size and richness, it is best enjoyed as a shared item.

The Bam Bam Crazyshake is a robust, cereal-inspired dessert. Known for its structural integrity and temperature control, it offers a well-balanced flavor profile that highlights the synergy between classic breakfast cereal and rich frosting.

BAM BAM Crazyshake key highlights

  • Sturdy Construction: The Krispy Treat component is notably more durable than the one found on the Mickey Crazyshake, making it easier to manage as a topping. However, it does not offer the same quality as the Mickey-shaped version with the Mickey Crazyshake.
  • Flavor Synergy: The vanilla frosting rim pairs “marvelously” with the cereal, while the cereal itself complements the whipped cream for a nostalgic tasting experience.
  • Temperature Control: The ice cream is served very cold, which is a significant advantage for maintaining its consistency.
  • Generous Toppings: It features a large, shareable piece of Laffy Taffy, adding a playful candy element to the shake.
  • Value Consideration: While there is a price difference compared to the Mickey version, the quality and sturdiness of the components justify the cost.

  1. With its later opening time of noon, will the location stay open later at night past the usual Disney Springs closing time of 11 pm just like Salt and Straw stays open till midnight?
And do they accept cash as the prior location Sprinkles did not?

    1. Crazyshakes will not be staying open that late. Also, Salt & Straw typically closes at 11:00 p.m. or 11:30 p.m. on weekends.

      1. Thanks for the closing info on Crazyshakes Jon
However salt and straw is open until midnight every night, as per their agreement with Disney Springs, they are allowed to remain open until midnight each night. The salt and straw location at downtown Disney in Anaheim is also open until midnight each night. (Btw, I’ve been in salt and straw numerous times after 11pm because they are open that late – I make sure to thank the cast members for staying open that late each time I visit.
