Legoland’s Galacticoaster is like Cosmic Rewind for kids | Review

Galacticoaster, a new indoor roller coaster, is now open at Legoland Florida and will soon open at Legoland California. Keep reading for our review of the new attraction.

You should ride Galacticoaster soon, because it’s going to have long lines; it’s that good. The new attraction officially opened on Feb. 27, 2026, at Legoland Florida and will debut on March 6 at Legoland California.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a groundbreaking ride or something that you should make a trip just to Legoland for. But if you like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at Epcot, this is like a miniature, smaller version of it for kids, and that’s a good thing.

And don’t get me wrong again: just because I say it’s for kids, it still has a kick. It’s an indoor dark ride themed to space, just like Guardians of the Galaxy, and it even has a launch like that ride. However, the ride time is a lot shorter and the controlled spinning is a little less intense.

The story behind the ride is that an asteroid of probable destruction is zooming toward us, so we have to rocket into space and get the attention of the separators. (That’s the tool that you use to separate bricks — if you are a Lego builder, you’re very familiar with it.) If we catch their attention, they’ll chase us and we can lead them to the asteroid, and they’ll start taking it apart.

This brings us to the “build” portion of the queue. Similar to the previous version of Test Track at Epcot, you customize your spaceship before riding.

The customization comes in again at the start of your ride when you see yourself onscreen sitting in the vehicle you designed. Be sure to wave.

Before you get to the customizations, you’ll meet the world’s first Lego animatronic, Biff Dipper. He’s a good one, and he’ll tell you about your mission along with a couple of friends on screen. Also, be sure to check out the signs in this room, as there are some humorous ones.

The ride is in a mostly dark building with stars and Lego pieces surrounding you. You take off on a fast launch, then do a few curves and spinning, but the spinning is controlled. You don’t have to worry about motion sickness. My only complaint with the ride is that it’s too short: it takes about a minute and a half from start to finish.

Actually, I have one other complaint. I would have liked to have seen Benny the spaceman from “The Lego Movie” make an appearance somewhere, but that doesn’t really take away from the ride experience. Plus, you can find Benny on the other side of the park in the Lego Movie World area. (He even has his own spaceship to play on.)

Outside of the attraction is a kids’ play area and some fun interactive statues you can take pictures with. You may also spot an alien or an astronaut walking around.

Guests must be 36 inches tall to ride Galacticoaster. Even though the ride vehicles and seats are very accommodating with lots of leg room, some individuals who are too tall or large may not be able to ride. There is a single-rider line available. Riders need to store loose items in lockers, but they’re free for two hours.

Galacticoaster is a must-do if you’re visiting Legoland Florida. Your whole  family will have a great time designing their ship and riding it.

I expect this one to have long lines because of its popularity, so my suggestion is to head straight to the back of the park when you arrive. You should ride Galacticoaster either first thing in the morning or wait around until the end of the evening.

The fact that the ride is in the back of the park should help with the lines at those times. They do offer Fasttrack line, but you’ll miss the preshow with Biff.

Fun Fact: Galacticoaster is set at Spaceport 885, which is inspired by one of the earliest Lego space sets: Set 885 Space Scooter. Throughout the area, you’ll see different Lego themes come to life, including Lego City Space, Lego Friends, Lego Duplo, Lego Space Police 3, and more.
