Crystal River Rapids attraction opens next month at Gaylord Palms Resort
Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, Fla. has announced that Crystal River Rapids, a thrilling new action river water attraction, will open at Cypress Springs Water Park on March 1, 2021.
The exciting new water ride is part of a $158 million expansion—the largest in the resort’s history—that will also include 302 enhanced guest rooms in the new Gulf Coast tower adjacent to the resort’s pools, 96,000 square feet of meeting and event space (plus the new 12,000-square-foot Mangrove Lawn), a new Crystal River Refreshments quick-service dining location, and upgraded pool seating options.
Inspired by spring-fed Florida rivers, Crystal River Rapids will take guests on an exhilarating ride at three-and-a-half feet per second, twisting and turning through speeding currents and past roaring waterfalls and crumbling limestone walls. With exciting water activations, a state-of-the-art sound system, heated water for year-round enjoyment, and alcoves with views of Cypress Springs Water Park, the new action river adventure is sure to provide endless family fun.

The new Crystal River Rapids area at Gaylord Palms Resort will include:
- Crystal River Refreshments offering casual grab-and-go dining for lunch and dinner with a menu featuring specialty cocktails and delicious comfort food, including loaded waffle fries, flatbreads, and sandwiches
- Two Spas with massage jets and 360-degree views of Cypress Springs Water Park
- Upgraded Seating (for purchase) including Private Cabanas with lounge area, refrigerator, and flat-screen TV; Day Beds that can fit two adults (maximum four guests per bed); Exclusive Sun Deck Chairs overlooking Crystal River Rapids; and Premium Pool Seating that guarantees a spot and provides a front-row view of the pool
