D23 is celebrating Muppets milestones all next week
Thanks to D23: The Official Disney Fan Club, There will be Muppets-inspired magic and mayhem all next week, including a live tweet party for “Muppet Treasure Island,” an all-new panel—A Muppetational Legacy with D23— an exclusive BoxLunch discount, and two new limited-edition pins.
From the 25th anniversary of “Muppet Treasure Island” and the 30th anniversary of “Dinosaurs” to “The Muppet Show” arriving on Disney+, it will take a whole week for D23 to celebrate all the momentous Muppets milestones.
“Muppet Treasure Island” – 25th Anniversary Tweet Party
On Feb. 16, 2021, at 7 p.m. EST / 4 p.m. PST, fans can join D23 and favorite Muppets on Twitter to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of “Muppet Treasure Island” with a “Cabin Fever” watch party. While streaming the film (available now on Disney+), head to D23’s official Twitter page for a live tweet experience featuring trivia, fun facts, and even a few surprises. Follow along using #D23MuppetMayhem.
A Muppetational Legacy with D23
Premiering on Feb. 18, 2021, at 7 p.m. EST / 4 p.m. PST on D23.com and D23’s Facebook and YouTube pages, A Muppetational Legacy with D23 will be hosted by Muppets Studio vice president Leigh Slaughter. Slaughter will be joined by Bill Barretta (puppeteer, Pepe, Rowlf, Swedish Chef), Dave Goelz (puppeteer, Gonzo, Bunsen Honeydew, Waldorf), Kevin Bishop (actor, Jim Hawkins), and Brian Henson (puppeteer, director, producer, chairman of The Jim Henson Company). The panel will engage in a fun conversation about Disney Legend Jim Henson and the successful, long-lasting collaboration between The Muppets and Disney.
New limited-edition Muppets pins and exclusive BoxLunch discount
D23 debuted two gold enamel pins (limited edition of 1,500 each) to commemorate “Muppet Treasure Island,” featuring Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear. Pins are sold separately for $12.99 each plus applicable sales tax. The pins will be available exclusively to D23 Gold Members on shopDisney at 7 a.m. PST on Feb. 15, 2021. Maximum of one pin of each style per D23 Gold Member.
D23 has also launched an exclusive 30% off discount with BoxLunch, which Gold Members can use to purchase items from their line of Muppets products like Fozzie and Dr. Teeth t-shirts ($28.90 – $34.90).
