Exclusive D23 member events celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary in 2023
D23: The Official Disney Fan Club is celebrating The Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary in 2023 with exclusive D23 member events and experiences, including a preview of Disney100: The Exhibition and a special Destination D23 at Walt Disney World Resort.
D23’s name honors the history of the Walt Disney Company that began when Walt opened his first studio in Hollywood in 1923. Now, 100 years later, Disney’s official fan club is celebrating the milestone anniversary with new exclusive experiences as well as the return of favorites like movie screenings, studio tours, and live events with Disney Theatrical.
2023 D23 member events:
Disney100: The Exhibition (Feb. 2023) – D23 members will be among the first to see the Walt Disney Archives exhibition showcasing Disney’s 100-year history when it makes its global premiere on Feb. 18, 2023, at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, Penn. D23 will also invite members to The Walt Disney Studios Lot in Burbank, Calif., for an exclusive event to honor 100 years of Disney stories and characters.
Walt’s Marceline (June 2023) – Walt Disney often shared fond memories of Marceline, Missouri (the town’s main thoroughfare was even an inspiration for Disneyland’s Main Street, U.S.A.), and during a very special hometown event, D23 members will have a chance to visit the place where Walt spent his early childhood.
Destination D23 (Sept. 8-10, 2023) – The biggest Disney fan event of 2023 will celebrate 100 years of The Walt Disney Company in Disney’s Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World. Disney fans attending Destination D23 will be the first to hear exciting announcements, see sneak peeks, and relive magical Disney moments with behind-the-scenes stories, special guests, and more.
Milestone Anniversaries – 2023 marks milestone anniversaries for several beloved Disney films, and D23 will be celebrating with in-person events, including the 20th anniversary of “Finding Nemo,” the 25th anniversary of “Mulan,” and the 35th anniversary of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit.”
In 2023, D23 will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of Halloween favorites “Hocus Pocus” and “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” and the 25th anniversary of the Disney Channel original movie “Halloweentown.”
The Walt Disney Studios Official Tour presented by D23 – D23 allows members to visit the world-famous Walt Disney Studios Lot on special tours that offer an inside perspective on historic moments from Disney films, television series, and theme parks, plus the rare chance to peek inside the Walt Disney Archives and Walt Disney’s office suite.
D23 Nights with Disney Theatrical – D23 and the North American tours of Disney’s “The Lion King” and Disney’s “Frozen” will offer exclusive theatrical experiences for D23 members, including special ticket packages and post-show Q&As with cast members. D23 will kick off these theatrical events in Los Angeles with “The Lion King” and Costa Mesa, Calif., with “Frozen,” plus offer an exclusive experience with the cast during the highly-anticipated opening of Disney’s “Hercules” at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey.
Signature Events – Disney Fans can look forward to D23 Gold Member previews of Walt Disney Archives traveling exhibitions across the country, advance and opening night screenings of new Disney films at locations across the country, and – as part of a very merry D23 Holiday Celebration in Dec. 2023 – Walt Disney Imagineering’s exclusive merchandise store, Mickey’s of Glendale, will open its doors to members with both online and in-person opportunities.
