The Disney Wish may not be debuting until 2022, but the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy are now sailing from Port Canaveral, Fla., with new ways to experience the seafaring fun of a Disney Cruise Line vacation.
There are certain things Disney Cruise fans expect when they board a Disney ship, including character appearances, enchanting entertainment, amazing youth clubs, and of course, fireworks at sea. Luckily, all those favorites are still in store for passengers, but there are a few new surprises as well.
“The magic of a Disney cruise begins as soon as you step onto the ship, and we’ve added even more fun to your first moments on board,” writes Disney Cruise Line Public Relations Manager Melanie Curtsinger in the Disney Parks Blog. “Following our signature announcement of your family when embarking the ship, you will be invited to step into the atrium for an interactive musical moment with Captain Minnie and Captain Mickey.”
Mealtime is always a fun time on a Disney cruise, but new entertainment in the family dining rooms makes it even more magical with a high-energy celebration starring Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto in Enchanted Garden; the opportunity to meet Disney princesses — and enjoy live music during dinner — in Royal Palace on Disney Dream and Royal Court on Disney Fantasy; and on cruises that are four nights or longer, rowdy buccaneers will take over all of the dining rooms for a swashbuckling adventure on pirate night.
Disney friends love vacations too, so it’s no surprise that passengers can spot their favorite characters throughout their cruise, from Goofy in the Walt Disney Theatre to princesses in the atrium to the Green Army Men patrolling the upper decks — who knows, they may even pop up on Castaway Cay.
