Florida Blue Medicare has opened an exclusive lounge in Epcot’s Norway pavilion, and is collaborating with Disney on a series of virtual entertainment events as part of a multi-year sponsorship with Walt Disney World Resort.

Florida Blue Lounge opens at Norway in Epcot

Florida’s Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare plan is an official sponsor of Walt Disney World during Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival, and as part of their partnership they have opened the Florida Blue Lounge in World Showcase’s Norway pavilion.

The lounge is open to Florida Blue Medicare members who are attending the International Food & Wine Festival. Among the perks are refreshments, a place to relax, and limited-availability VIP seating at the American Gardens Bandstand for live musical concerts that take place on Friday-Monday.

Kathy Feeny, president of Florida Blue Medicare, said, “We’re thrilled to collaborate with our neighbors at Walt Disney World Resort to help guests make new memories and celebrate our shared connection. If you know Florida Blue Medicare, you know we believe in helping people with every aspect of health and wellness. That includes finding joy and spending time with the ones you care about most.”

The lounge will be open to visitors from noon to 6 p.m. for the duration of the Festival (through Nov. 20).

Florida Blue Medicare has also teamed up with Walt Disney World Resort to create virtual entertainment events, which debuted on Oct. 4. Events include chef-led lessons on how to cook favorite foods from the International Food & Wine Festival; Tai Chi with Chip and Dale; Yoga classes with Goofy; and learning to dance the Cha Cha with Mickey and Minnie.

A second collaboration with National Geographic Live has produced the virtual event, The Health of Earth’s Waters. Dr. Sylvia Earle — the first female chief scientist of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) — and Dr. Robert Ballard, an underwater explorer best known for discovering the Titanic shipwreck, discuss the health of the Earth’s water systems.

The virtual event, which can be accessed starting on Oct. 20, is hosted by Susan Goldberg, editor in chief of National Geographic, whose interviews are focused on Earth’s waters, underwater exploration, conservation efforts, Florida waterways, and water’s connection to human health.

Florida Blue Medicare’s multi-year sponsorship agreement with Walt Disney World Resort is in its second year, and Erika Shen, vice president, Disney Corporate Alliances, says, “For fifty years, Disney has made magical memories for guests of all ages at Walt Disney World Resort. Floridians and beyond know Walt Disney World Resort is a special place, with the unique ability to bring people together. We enjoy joining forces with Florida Blue Medicare to make our shared community a little bit happier every day.” To obtain a pass for the lounge in Norway, and to access the virtual entertainment events, visit FloridaBlue.com/Magic.
