This morning, Disney and cruising fans alike were able to check out a first look at the Disney Wish, the newest ship to join the Disney Cruise Line fleet, ahead of its first sailing in summer 2022.
The ship will feature new spaces and experiences filled with Disney storytelling that will bring the characters and worlds from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars to life.
Among the highlights aboard the ship will be the first-ever Disney attraction at sea featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse; a theatrical dining experience set in the world of “Frozen;” a Marvel-themed “cinematic dining adventure;” and a first-of-its-kind Star Wars lounge experience.
“With the Disney Wish, we’re continuing our tradition of delivering the most magical and relaxing vacations at sea, combining legendary service and entertainment with imaginative storytelling and all the care you expect from a Disney vacation,” said Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. “Our newest ship will celebrate everything that families love about sailing with us, from the incredible dining experiences and character interactions, to dazzling shows and the crew’s thoughtful attention to detail. We can’t wait to welcome our guests aboard the Disney Wish as we expand the reach of our world-class fleet.”
To “Swim”-finity and Beyond
Fun in the sun aboard the Disney Cruise Line will be taken to the next level aboard the Disney Wish with a brand-new family water attraction and three themed areas for families, children and adults alike.
“The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” animated shorts will come to life aboard the first-ever Disney attraction at sea, AquaMouse. With show scenes, lighting and special effects, this water ride will take riders through 760 feet of winding tubes suspended high above the upper decks.
Families will have more pools, deck space and dining in a new district themed to Mickey and friends. Alongside AquaMouse, the area will feature six pools — staggered among tiered decks and surrounded by lounge chairs — as well as a new take on casual fare with a character twist.
Younger cruisers will find themselves at home in the new Toy Story-themed district, designed especially for families with toddlers and young children. This area will include a splash zone, wading pool, family waterslide, and a smoothie bar.
Adults will also have their own hideaway at Quiet Cove, a peaceful refuge set away from the hustle and bustle of family activities. The secluded adults-only district will include an infinity pool, poolside bar, and cafe.
Prepared and Served with Flair — A Culinary Cabaret
Three new family dining concepts will make their debut onboard the Disney Wish, ranging from theatrical entertainment and cinematic adventures to classic, elegant dining.
Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure will be Disney’s first “Frozen”-themed theatrical dining experience that will bring the world of Arendelle to life. Characters like Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf will make appearances, and the menu will be infused with Nordic influences.
Worlds of Marvel will be the first Marvel “cinematic dining adventure,” where guests will play a part in an Avengers mission that unfolds around them, complete with a menu inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
1923, named for the year that The Walt Disney Company was founded, is a celebration of the company’s legacy that pays homage to the golden age of animation. The menu will offer dishes inspired by Disney’s Californian heritage with a fusion of cultural flavors.
A Whole New World of Family Entertainment
The Disney Wish will evolve the Grand Hall from a gathering space into an environmental theater through built-in special effects and the first-ever atrium stage aboard a Disney ship. Dedicated shows and interactive entertainment will come to life throughout this space.
Luna will be a brand-new entertainment hub that will transition from a daytime setting for family fun into an elegant nighttime venue for adult-exclusive entertainment. Live shows and interactive programming will be offered here throughout the day.
Hero Zone will be a futuristic sports arena where physical activity will combine with action-packed challenges and game show-style competitions for families to enjoy together.
The Walt Disney Theatre will be an opulent “show palace” that will offer original Broadway-style stage productions developed exclusively for Disney Cruise Line — starting with “Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular.”
The Wonderland and Never Land Cinemas will provide guests with the chance to watch classic and first-run films from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm and more in an intimate screening room experience.
And, like other Disney Cruise experiences, the Disney Wish will offer stage shows, deck parties, character experiences, family activities, contemporary cabarets, and more.
Imaginations, Assemble! Cool Clubs for Kids of All Ages
The ship will offer dedicated clubs for every age group with programming facilitated by Disney-trained counselors, set in environments inspired by Disney storytelling.
The reimagined Disney’s Oceaneer Club will offer children ages 3-12 the chance to enter three unique areas:
- Marvel Super Hero Academy — A high-tech Avengers headquarters where recruits will train to be the next generation of Super Heroes with the help of Spider-Man, Black Panther, Ant-Man and The Wasp.
- Fairytale Hall — Three royal activity rooms where princesses and princes will bring stories to life at Rapunzel’s Art Studios, Belle’s Library, and Anna and Elsa’s Sommerhus.
- Walt Disney Imagineering Lab — This will be a first-of-its-kind opportunity for guests to discover the secrets of Disney Imagineers, with hands-on activities and experiments.
For the smallest cruisers ages 6 months to 3 years, It’s a Small World Nursery will offer babysitting services in an environment inspired by the classic Disney attraction.
Edge (ages 11-14) and Vibe (ages 14-17) will be hangouts especially for tweens and teens to chill and play their way, with dedicated programming designed for these age groups.
A Trove of Untold Treasures Exclusively for Adults
Adults will be able to experience their own magic aboard the Disney Wish, thanks to exclusive venues and entertainment just for them.
One of these will be Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, a high-end bar styled as a luxurious yacht-class spaceship. This experience will be reserved for adults every evening, with interactive tasting experiences and signature beverages inspired by destinations like Batuu, Tatooine, and Mustafar.
Guests will be able to enjoy gourmet meals and beverages at Palo Steakhouse, Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement, and The Rose, an upscale dining experience inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Beauty and the Beast.”
Senses Spa will offer tranquil spa and beauty treatments, with private treatment rooms, spa villas, and steam and aromatherapy rooms. The reimagined Senses Fitness will offer state-of-the-art exercise and wellness facilities.
Artful Accommodations Where Dreams Do Come True
The staterooms on board the Disney Wish will be inspired by dreamy Disney stories, complete with plenty of room for families. Most will feature Disney Cruise Line’s signature split-bathroom concept, as well.
Most of the ship’s 1,254 staterooms will offer an ocean view, including with 877 (70%) with their own spacious verandah. There will also be 451 connecting doors that adjoin rooms for larger families.
The Disney Wish will also feature Disney’s first-ever staterooms located above the bridge, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bow of the ship. There will also be an exclusive lounge with private sun deck as part of the ship’s elevation of the concierge experience.
Four royal suites will also be found on the ship, offering luxurious, first-class accommodations for up to six guests. These include a pair of two-story suites, with statement pieces like a spiral staircase and two-deck-high stained-glass frieze.
The Disney Wish will set sail on its maiden voyage — a five-night cruise to Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay — on June 9, 2022, followed by an inaugural season of three- and four-night cruises to the same destinations from Port Canaveral, Fla. Bookings will open to the general public on May 27, 2021.
