Disney Cultural Representatives are returning to Epcot!
Disney’s Cultural Representatives, part of the Disney International Program, will return to Epcot in phases, starting in August, 2022.
Disney Programs made the announcement on March 25, 2022, stating “The Cultural Representatives play an important role in our storytelling by helping us create authentic, immersive experiences for our guests as they share their countries’ culture, heritage, and traditions that have inspired our resorts, pavilions, and theme parks.”
The program has been popular with guests and with cast, and Disney says it has just been waiting for the right time to reintroduce it, after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
This summer is the right time, according to the encouraging progress Disney has seen in recent health trends, as international travel returns and vaccination programs across the world have expanded.
Disney is currently reaching out to participants from select countries whose program was shortened, cancelled, or waitlisted in 2020, and to those who were offered a cultural representative role but had not yet arrived in Orlando at the time the parks shut down.
Once those who were part of the program have been contacted, Disney will begin to invite others to apply.
When they return, the representatives will have roles at locations such as Epcot’s 11 international pavilions in World Showcase and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
During the phased re-introduction, recruitment will begin in Germany, Norway, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, and Canada for roles in World Showcase.
Additional countries will come on board once applicants can clear any travel restrictions, and/or have CDC-authorized vaccines available.
“We are doing this in a thoughtful and responsible way, with the safety of our participants and working cast top of mind,” Disney added. “We’re building on the solid foundation of last year’s relaunch of the Disney College Program. Both programs provide a great pathway for career development as they offer participants the opportunity to learn, grow, and develop as they stay at Flamingo Crossings Village, a new state-of-the-art housing complex.”
