Disney World adding capacity to Soarin’ and Toy Story Mania rides

Soarin' Epcot Walt Disney World

Two of Walt Disney World’s most popular attractions are getting ready to receive new additions that will allow more guests the chance to experience them during their visit.

Thomas Smith on the Disney Parks Blog announced that Toy Story Mania at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is set to expand with the addition more midway track inside the attraction. Soarin’ at Epcot is adding a third theater, as well as updating their projection system and screens, giving guests a much clearer experience.

The expansions of these two attractions should give guests quicker stand-by wait times and may even up the amount of FastPass+ reservations given out in one day. Nothing has been announced, but it’s been rumored and expected that Soarin’ will receive new scenes sometime in the future and possibly expand beyond Soarin’ over California to possibly add scenes flying over other locations around America or the world. The new theater would help them handle the crowds a new film would bring. Toy Story Midway Mania has already had a scene added since it debuted. Since it’s all computer generated, Disney could add more scenes when Toy Story 4 is released. They could also have the scenes randomly generated each ride.

Both construction projects are expected to be completed in late 2016.
