Disney Genie+ pricing changing to per park or multiple parks option

Walt Disney World is changing the way pricing works for their Genie+ service. This new option could be cheaper for the guests, depending what they choose. But it also means more pre-planning.

Genie+ lets you join the Lightning Lanes (formerly FastPass) of certain attractions at Walt Disney World for shorter lines at a set fee. Since it was introduced, it’s been one price and you could use it all day at any of their four theme parks.

Starting next Tuesday, June 27, 2023, when purchasing Genie+ in the My Disney Experience app, guests will have to decide if they want to purchase it for just one park, or multiple parks. There are two potential benefits to this new option. If you only want one park, and that park is one of the less expensive ones, it may be cheaper than the old option of only one price.

The other benefit is that in the past, during busy times, Disney has had to stop the sales of Genie+ because too many people purchased it and the Lightning Lanes were getting too long. Now, if that happens at one park, but not another, they can just stop the sales of the multiple parks option and the busy park and still offer it at the others. For example, if Magic Kingdom is really busy, but the other parks aren’t, they can stop the sales of the multiple park option and Magic Kingdom only option, so you can still buy the other three parks individually.

Genie+ prices on June 27, 2023.

The prices for Genie+ have been varied by day, and they still will be. According to Thrill-Data.com, who has been tracking Genie+ cost, this year so far it been a low of $15 per day, to a high of $35 per day.

Here’s what the prices will be next Tuesday, June 27, 2023 when this goes into effect:

  • Multiple Parks option will be $27.
  • Magic Kingdom will be $27.
  • Epcot will be $18
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be $24
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be $16.

Last Tuesday June 20, 2023, the cost was $24. So based on that, if you only want to use Genie+ at one park, it’s cheaper for Epcot or Animal Kingdom. Since the price of multiple parks is the same as only purchasing Magic Kingdom on this day, there’s no advantage to purchasing only Magic Kingdom. Guests may as well purchase the Multiple Parks option if they have Park Hopper tickets, or are annual passholders.

Guests can purchase Genie+ for one park, then purchase Genie+ for a different park later if they’d like, but that will cost more than the Multiple Parks option. Disney Guest Services may be able to help them switch without paying more, but the app won’t offer refunds.

Disney says they are still working on more Genie+ improvements for 2024. These new price changes are only happening at Walt Disney World Resort at this time, not Disneyland Resort.

What do you think of these changes? Are you happy to pay for only one park? Do you not like having to decide if you’ll park hop before your day is even started? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. I think that it is an unfair system for those people that purchased park hopper tickets that cost them extra money and may have expected to purchase Genie+ to use for the entire day. With the exception of Magic Kingdom, it looks like the park hopper tourists will now pay more money to get Genie+ for the day. That is a double whammy.

  2. We last visited the parks in 2019 and had to extensively use our phones to plan prior to and during the trip. I thought the idea of being on vacation was to get away from this drudgery. Technology is great but to us it was stressful to be tied to the apps to try and have fun.

  3. I Think they are taking all the fun out of experiencing Disney. Come up with one price and stop all the BS. Just Saying.
