Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade to film at Magic Kingdom on Dec. 3 and 4, 2010

Registration to attend the taping of the 2010 Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade television show on Friday, Dec. 3 and Saturday Dec. 4 is now open. There’s no cost or age limit to register and you can select to bring as many as seven people with you.

Registration is being handled through Active.com, a sports-related site. You don’t have to become a member of the site to register. Just select to register as a guest. You’ll be asked to select a day or both days and select the number of people attending.

But registering doesn’t guarantee you’ll be able to attend. A limited number of tickets will be available on a first-come basis. If you’re selected to participate, you’ll receive an e-mail with more details on completing your registration in order to print out an e-ticket. There’s no word on how many will be allowed to register or how many will be chosen to attend.

The audience will be brought in shifts. Your shift may start as early as 7:30 a.m. The shifts are supposed to last about four hours each, but as with most TV tapings, expect delays. You may be asked if you’d like to stay for an additional shift, or not. In the past, one day was used to film the castle stage performances and the other was used to film the actual parade down Main Street. Once you’re done with the taping, you’re welcome to spend the day in the park.

There’s no word yet on which celebrities will be in the show. Disneyland has already recorded some segments of the show with Selena Gomez, Nick Cannon and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, so don’t expect them in Orlando. The hosts are expected to be Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa. The duo have hosted the show from the Magic Kingdom for many years.

If you haven’t been to one of these tapings before, it’s not at all like it looks on TV. With the stage productions and filming the actual parade down Main Street U.S.A, there are numerous and long delays. You’ll be expected to cheer on cue, sometimes over and over again for the same thing until they get everything right. Rain and other weather problems have caused them to shoot at other locations such as The Grand Floridian in the past.

So if you’d like to attend, start the registration process, cross your fingers and if selected, wear comfortable, colorful holiday themed clothing (no logos except Disney ones) and be patient. If you’re not selected, you can still show up at the park Dec. 3 and 4 and hope to see some stars. You’ll just have to stand behind those chosen to attend the tapings.

  1. For those who want to guess on who will be performing or appear at the parade remember Disney will use the parade to promote recent & upcoming releases. So expect to see Repunzel & Flynn Ryder (with a chance of Mandy Moore & Zachery Levi even) during the parade sometime & I’m willing to bet Debby Ryan (Suite Life On Deck) will perform the song that’s included in the upcoming Snow Buddies film. So if they don’t show up at Disneyland expect those charectors & Debby to more than liekly be filmed for the portion here in Walt Disney World.

  2. If you’re choosen to participate, do you also need a ticket to get into the park? or is the ticket they send you park admission as well?

  3. Sam if I recall correctly when you enter for the parade taping your allowed to stay in the Magic Kingdom for the entire day BUT your e ticket will not allow for you to exit than re enter the park or be able to used to aquire Fast Passes. So your able to enjoy the rest of the day at the park as long as you don’t leave.

  4. what ever happened to Disney just being fun now it’s a gamble if you can attend special events or not. guess the old days are gone
