Disney PhotoPass and Snapchat are teaming up to allow guests to show off Walt Disney World Resort in a brand-new way with augmented reality (AR) lenses featuring favorite Disney characters.
Kicking things off are the Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse lenses, which are available only at Walt Disney World Resort — but to celebrate the launch and what’s to come, Disney fans can try the lenses anywhere in the U.S. until June 3.
These lenses are just the start, as Disney is working with Snap to create more photo experiences, including surprises to celebrate Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.
One of these ways will be through the transformation of Cinderella Castle with a mosaic of images from guests’ trips to the Most Magical Place on Earth. Through the My Disney Experience app, guests can place their favorite image captured by Disney PhotoPass photographers on the castle with AR technology alongside other memories shared by guests. Once you share your memory, the next time you return to Walt Disney World during the 18-month-long 50th anniversary celebration, your photo will be “waiting for you.”
More fun is coming this fall to My Disney Experience, including special Disney PhotoPass lenses that can be used right in the app, powered by Snap’s camera technology. Guests will be able to take selfies with Disney characters, experience unique Walt Disney World moments, and even make their own magic through augmented reality. More details on these offerings will be shared at a later date.
