Disneyland Paris adds ‘Up’ house to Storybook Land boat ride
After announcing last year that “Frozen” and “Winnie the Pooh” will be joining the charming Storybook Land ride, Disneyland Paris will also welcome a new scene inspired by “Up.”

A reimagination of the classic Storybook Land Canal Boats at Disneyland, Le Pays des Contes de Fées features miniature scenes from favorite Disney stories, including “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “The Little Mermaid,” and “Aladdin.” Carl and Ellie’s house (as well as Elsa’s Ice Castle and the Hundred Acre Woods) joins Night on the Bald Mountain from “Fantasia,” Belle’s Village from “Beauty and the Beast” and Rapunzel’s Tower from “Tangled” as scenes that are exclusive to Disneyland Paris.
“There’s something magical about taking something full scale and displaying it in miniature,” said Keith Rector, a Walt Disney Imagineering Paris art director. “I grew up near Disneyland in California and Storybook Land has always been my favorite attraction. When I joined the team in Paris, we started a conversation about how we can bring new stories to Le Pays des Contes de Fées. I wanted to introduce new characters to this realm of storybook classics.”

Imagineers are working with Disneyland Paris Central Shops to create the majestic North Mountain, Elsa’s Ice Palace, and Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post. The Hundred Acre Woods will feature the home of Winnie the Pooh. The new whimsical “Up” scene will depict Carl and Russell landing Carl’s balloon-powered house near Paradise Falls. Guests may also see Kevin hiding nearby.

“What makes Le Pays des Contes de Fées so unique is that the attraction’s main character is its miniaturized storybook architecture,” Rector said. “Carl’s flying house in ‘Up’ is an icon from this story, so strong that we felt it would be fitting as a finale to the attraction.”
Le Pays des Contes de Fées will reopen at Disneyland Paris Park this summer.
