Disney’s Polynesian DVC Tower construction stands out on Seven Seas Lagoon

The Seven Seas Lagoon is one of the most iconic Disney Parks’ views in the world. That skyline is currently changing, as Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is undergoing a massive Disney Vacation Club (DVC) update. Thanks to photos by Bioreconstruct on Twitter, we can see how this multi-story tower construction is going.

Adding more DVC options to the Walt Disney World Resort hotels is nothing new. The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has The Villas, seen in red and white at the bottom of the image above. The Contemporary has Bay Lake Tower (take a tour of the rooms as they looked in 2009). Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has the Cascade Cabins, Copper Creek, and Boulder Ridge.

Now, Disney is expanding Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort with a new DVC tower. This tower is located where the previous Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show took place. This upcoming Disney Polynesian DVC tower will offer new dining and recreation options.

More offerings for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort guests

This tower will certainly increase visitation to the Polynesian Village Resort. While not yet confirmed, it is expected that this location will have its own valet area, some parking options, and a DVC style lobby entrance.

As you can see, the monorail will glide right by this new DVC Villa Tower. Just two years ago, we got our first look at another Disney Polynesian Village Resort update, Moana inspired rooms.

Situated on Seven Seas Lagoon

Seen here, the Disney Polynesian DVC Villa Tower will be located in-between the existing Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Wedding Pavilion. You will also notice the height different between these structures. This expansion has continued vertical with each new piece installed. This follows the trend of large vertical expansions, such as The Villas at The Grand Floridian sort & Spa, Bay Lake Tower, and even The Villas at Disneyland Hotel.

Speaking of the Disney resort hotel expansions, Bioreconstruct was able to get this stunning picture of the Magic Kingdom resort area. Aerial photography near the Magic Kingdom is highly restricted. Shots such as this are rare to come by.

Disney Concept Art

Concept art for 2024 opening

This upcoming Disney Polynesian DVC Villa Tower is expected to open in late 2024. Until then construction sights and sounds will be around Disney’s Wedding Pavilion and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, plan accordingly.

The concept art doesn’t appear to show a rooftop restaurant or dining space, and instead leans towards a large suite. That being said, we would love another rooftop dining offering, like the fan-favorite California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

Disney Vacation Club Benefits

This expansion to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort should open late 2024. The Disney Vacation Club has continued to gain popularity as a timeshare-style membership which offers perks in the Disney Parks and beyond. Being part of DVC has initial upfront fees, as well as yearly dues, but this offering is meant to cut costs in the long run for die-hard Disney fans who visit yearly. In fact, Disney states that a DVC membership is equivalent to staying for 50% off (in some cases) when comparing costs in the long run.

DVC Members will be the first to enjoy this new expansion to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, as well as other benefits like Moonlight Magic Events. Along with the Polynesian Disney Vacation Club tower expansion, DVC Members can also choose to use their points to explore different resort locations. (The author’s favorite DVC resort offering is Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge)

You can learn more about the Disney Vacation Club on their website. Stay tuned to Attractions Magazine for updates about the Polynesian Disney Vacation Club expansion.

  1. After going through cancer and it’s complications, I cried today seeing that beautiful tree-lined pathway gone. Where did the tiles go from the path? I always read them. One more Disney dream gone. The magic died today for me. That was my go to place when I visited the Polynesian. My Disney magic going back to 1976, is gone. No need to return to Disney, anymore. Just gutted.

  2. This makes me sick to my stomach. I got married on Luau beach in 2013 and over the years we brought our children to play on the beach and always did our own photoshoot. It was our special place and now its destroyed. We visited it last month and saw it in person and I wanted to cry. All Disney cares about is money and greed.
