New Dr. Seuss theme park concepts being developed for Europe and Asia

The whimsical worlds of Dr. Seuss could find a new home in Europe and Asia, where a push is underway to develop theme park concepts inspired by his stories and characters.

Dr. Seuss Enterprises has teamed up with P&P Projects to design Dr. Seuss theme park concepts for Europe and Asia Pacific (APAC). The concepts are based on The Cat in the Hat, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, and other titles.

Before you start packing a suitcase (or a Sneetch star), here is the important part. This is a concept partnership, not a park announcement. The idea is to give prospective developers and operators something to look at.

Dr. Seuss theme park concepts: What has NOT been announced

  • No park, operator, location, attraction or opening date has been announced.
  • These are concepts for prospective developers. This is not an expansion of Seuss Landing at Universal Islands of Adventure.
  • The agreement excludes China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

What was announced

WildBrain CPLG, which represents licensing and location-based entertainment rights for Dr. Seuss Enterprises in Europe and APAC, brokered the collaboration. Under the agreement, P&P Projects has the rights to design and develop theme park concepts based on Dr. Seuss brands in those regions.

P&P Projects says it has almost 40 years of experience in immersive themed entertainment and offers turnkey work, from design and engineering to fabrication and installation. In other words, if an operator says yes, the same company can also build Thing 1 and Thing 2.

Why now

The timing lines up with a busy stretch for the good doctor. A new animated “The Cat in the Hat movie” arrives this year. Both “The Cat in the Hat” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” books turn 70 in 2027, and “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” is set for its big-screen debut in 2028.

Evi Sari, VP of Global LBE at WildBrain CPLG, said: “From the whimsical adventures of The Cat in the Hat to the heartwarming holiday magic of How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and the inspirational journey of Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, these properties bring extensive opportunities for themed attractions. Through this partnership, we’re creating a pathway for operators and developers in Europe and APAC to explore new destination experiences ahead of exciting content moments and anniversary milestones.”

What the potential Dr. Seuss theme park partnerships could make possible

The initial Dr. Seuss theme park concepts announcement doesn’t describe what these concepts look like. So,  consider the next few paragraphs informed daydreaming.

The three named titles already suggest three very different flavors. “The Cat in the Hat” is a natural fit for a family-friendly, chaos-in-the-living-room vibe. The Grinch is a seasonal powerhouse.

“Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” is the wild card. A story about life’s potential journeys could serve as the framework for an entire destination.

Today, the best-known place to walk into Dr. Seuss’ world is Seuss Landing at Universal Islands of Adventure. A concept package built for developers suggests a Seuss destination could eventually show up in a new park, a regional family park, or a standalone project, depending on who signs on. The agreement refers only to theme park destinations for operators, developers, and investors.

Concepts are the first step. Plenty of theme park concepts never leave the drawing board, so this is one to watch, not one to book flights for.

Dr. Seuss in themed entertainment

Dr. Seuss already has a real track record in themed entertainment, and much of it is festive, green, and furry.

Seuss Landing at Universal Islands of Adventure

Seuss Landing opened with Islands of Adventure in 1999 and remains the best-known Dr. Seuss theme park experience. It features rides such as The Cat in the Hat, Caro-Seuss-el and One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, along with Circus McGurkus Café Stoo-pendous, which hosts the Grinch & Friends Character Breakfast.

Grinchmas at Universal Orlando

Grinchmas returns to Seuss Landing during Universal Orlando’s 2026 holiday season, which runs November 14, 2026 through January 3, 2027. That is a week earlier than last year and adds six days. Expect the live “Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular” show, Grinch meet-and-greets at the Honk Honkers store, and the returning Who-Ville Tree Lot.

Grinchmas on the West Coast

Universal Studios Hollywood has its own Grinchmas, transforming Universal Plaza into Who-ville. Last season featured a 65-foot tree, a nightly tree lighting with snow effects, meet-and-greets with the Grinch and Max, Cindy Lou Who storytime, and a Who-ville post office.

The Grinch also has a frosty home with Gaylord Hotels.

This year, ICE! featuring “Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” returns to Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor, Maryland, from November 14, 2026 through January 3, 2027. The attraction is a 9-degree walk-through of hand-carved ice scenes with two-story ice slides. The Grinch was the ICE! theme at Gaylord Rockies in 2025 and at Gaylord Palms in 2022.

However, this season’s headlines belong to the new Harry Potter, “Home Alone,” and “The Nightmare Before Christmas” themes. Gaylord Palms near Walt Disney World is bringing back The Polar Express instead.

Dr. Seuss theme park coming to Asia or Europe?

For now, the closest you can get to a Dr. Seuss theme park in Europe or Asia is a childlike imagination. If a developer or operator signs on, we will finally learn where, when, and what. Until then, the Grinch’s heart grew three sizes in one story. So, we will see if the number of Dr. Seuss theme park attractions does the same.
