Drive through the ‘Urban Legends of Southern California’ Halloween haunt

Thanks to COVID-19, Halloween 2020 will be even scarier than usual – and that’s without any of the traditional Halloween haunt events. But have no fear (yet), scare seekers, the producers of Winter Fest OC (a Southern California annual holiday tradition) and the previous creative director and producer of Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor have created Urban Legends of Southern California, a safe way to experience Halloween thrills and chills, while still social distancing.

Located at the Orange County Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, Calif., Urban Legends of Southern California is an innovative 45-minute drive-thru Halloween haunt that features unique immersive scenes, coordinated lighting and sound, daring live performances, and dazzling special effects. Guests will remain in the safety of their vehicles during the terrifying (and terrifyingly fun) Halloween experience.

“With the challenges of safely hosting a traditional Halloween haunt during these unprecedented times, many of Southern California’s popular Halloween haunts are canceling,” said Mark Entner, executive producer of Urban Legends of Southern California. “Our team felt we had to provide an innovative and safe solution for the thousands of Southern Californians who look forward to enjoying the Halloween season each fall. Our Urban Legends monsters all have ties to Southern California, and we think this is going to be an incredible, immersive experience for our guests while keeping it safe for everyone.”

Taken from whispered folklore that has tortured and terrorized countless generations of SoCal residents at campfires and slumber parties, Urban Legends of Southern California brings those stories of the cursed and forsaken to life through horrifying sets, storytelling, and live performances. Guests will be scrambling to lock their car doors as they pass through five different experiential zones that tell the tales of SoCal’s scariest urban legend monsters – until they realize that they’re trapped inside.
