‘Dungeons & Dragons’ off-Broadway show coming to New York City
“Dungeons & Dragons The Twenty-Sided Tavern,” a live show in which the audience decides the characters’ fate, will make its off-Broadway debut in New York City this spring.
In “Dungeons & Dragons The Twenty-Sided Tavern,” the audience is the fourth player in a fully realized stage adaptation of the tabletop role-playing game “Dungeons & Dragons” (D&D).
Five performers will bring to life a composite of 30 characters and theatergoers will use Gamiotics software from their seats to decide which characters show up and what happens next. Some audience members will even get to participate on stage, taking part in riddles, puzzles, and combat within the Forgotten Realms.
“Dungeons & Dragons The Twenty-Sided Tavern” will perform off-Broadway at Stage 42, located at 422 W 42nd Street in New York City. Previews begin Apr. 19, 2024 and the show officially opens May 5, 2024.
The show held previous engagements in Chicago, Ill. and Pittsburg, Penn., as well as at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland.
Producer Says Show is “Beyond Our Wildest Imagination”
“Dungeons & Dragons The Twenty-Sided Tavern” was developed by Hasbro-operated Wizards of the Coast (holders of the D&D license) along with interactive entertainment company Curious Hedgehog and Showpath Entertainment, the live production arm of The Path Entertainment Group.
“What started as a D&D-style RPG [role-playing game] onstage with folding tables and a box of props has grown beyond our wildest imagination,” said David Carpenter, Curious Hedgehog producer. “From day one, we forged a deep connection with gamers and non-gamers alike by bringing them a whole new type of experience by fans, for fans.”

Pre-sale for “Dungeons & Dragons The Twenty-Sided Tavern” begins Feb. 29, 2024, and general sales to the public begin March 4, 2024.
