Epcot’s Cool Wash through the years – construction in progress

From Test Track’s original test dummy design to a Chevy-sponsored update, and now constructions walls, Epcot’s Cool Wash has transformed throughout the years. This small location has offered drinks, misting stations, photo-ops, and shade. What’s next?

Back in October, Disney temporarily had a sign up naming this location Refreshment Station. But as you can see above, that signage is now gone. And work hasn’t progressed much in this area.

Looking back, this Test Track ride vehicle has seen a design change over the years. And this area itself has been used for different reasons. Originally a mister station with drinks, it invited guests to cool off from the hot Florida sun. This location has now become an accompanying beverage stand for the nearby food kiosk, when it occasionally is open. This nearby food kiosk, which changes names during the Epcot Festivals, is sometimes referred to as The Donut Box or The Fry Basket.

On the My Disney Experience app, you can see this food kiosk located next to Cool Wash. It is interesting to see that Cool Wash is represented here in its older yellow and white design.

This old photo of Cool Wash harkens back to Epcot of the early 2010’s, when families would explore around Future World, going to places like Innoventions. The two cleaning brushes, when they were spinning, resembled Coca-Cola bottles.

Re-Imagined Club Cool opens at Epcot

Speaking of Coca-Cola, you may also remember the old Club Cool. It has been replaced by this reimagined version in Epcot’s World Celebration. Perhaps Cool Wash is awaiting an update such as this?

For now this is what we have. The shell of this structure has remained, but the cleaning brushes have been covered up. The concrete pad and themed Test Track vehicle are both gone. We can see a roof in need of a power wash, but the newer red graphics look fairly well maintained. While minimal, we can see some equipment lying around, ready to get to work.

As of now, the Walt Disney World website still calls this area Cool Wash, and links to a very limited menu online. There is no announced opening date, nor does Disney list Refreshment Station anywhere online. But Disney does list the Refreshment Port and the Refreshment Outpost. So perhaps this is meant to finish the trio of refreshment locales in Epcot. We shall see. Keep checking back with us for any updates.
