Get ready for the Guardians of the Galaxy, holiday style, as Epcot overlays its newest ride with a special festive soundtrack this November and December.
For 2022, Walt Disney World’s big holiday season will include a variety of first-of-a-kind experiences, as well as the return of a host of seasonal favorites.
The full array of festive fun was announced on the Disney Parks Blog today, with each theme park, plus Disney Springs, contributing its own special touches and celebratory style, and the big surprise is that it will also include the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride.
The park’s Marvel super-heroes launched their headline attraction on May 27, 2022, and were an instant hit with Epcot fans for the fast-paced coaster action and vibrant soundtrack, which features a random selection of one of six 1970s and 1980s pop anthems.
But, for this year’s holiday season, all that will change. Instead of tracks such as “Everybody Wants To Rule the World” by Tears for Fears, or “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire, the Guardians will be accompanied by a whole new backing sound.
Yes, the classic hits playlist will be traded in for what Disney describes as “a mash-up of seasonal jams.”
From November 25-December 30, guests will blast off to the tune of a specially-recorded holiday anthem that not only wishes peace on earth and good will towards all humans, but to those on Xandar as well!
The actual music and seasonal song medley has yet to be revealed, but it adds one more fun element to Epcot’s extensive International Festival of the Holidays.
It also follows on from another periodic Guardians transformation for the different ride version in Disneyland Resort’s California Adventure Park.
There, the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout attraction makes an annual switch with a spooky overlay for the Halloween Time season, becoming Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark from September 2-October 31, 2022.
