Epic Universe commercials begin airing on national TV

Epic Universe commercials herald the kickstart of Universal Orlando’s national advertising campaign for its newest theme park, opening in 2025.

It has begun. With just over six months to go until Opening Day, Epic Universe TV commercials debuted on national airwaves Nov. 11, 2024. The new theme park will open at Universal Orlando in Florida on May 22, 2025.

Three commercials advertising the park (all embedded below) come from iSpot.tv, a database of video ads: one commercial for Epic Universe overall, and others specifically devoted to Dark Universe and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic.

According to iSpot.tv, the ads recently aired on USA Network during “Chicago P.D.” (park overview) and “Angel Has Fallen” (Dark Universe), as well as on Bravo during “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” (Potter). The Epic Universe overview commercial has aired less than 100 times nationally, and the others have aired less than 10 times. The ads were developed by agencies TM Advertising and Spark Foundry.

Epic Universe TV commercial

A 60-second commercial for Epic Universe at large shows four people each encountering and then stepping into the portals of Epic Universe’s worlds, subsequently experiencing the attractions within.

  • How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk: a girl rides Hiccup’s Wing Gliders and Fyre Drill, then becomes a Viking and retrieves a golden egg
  • The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic: a woman dons Hufflepuff robes and journeys into the British Ministry of Magic, arriving on the day of Delores Umbridge’s trial
  • Dark Universe: a man steps into Darkmoor and rides Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment
  • Super Nintendo World: a boy participates in the race at Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge and careens through the air on Mine-Cart Madness, the Donkey Kong “track-jumping” roller coaster

Toward the end of the commercial, a voiceover says, “Five immersive worlds, one amazing theme park. Our universe will never be the same. Epic Universe, only at Universal Orlando Resort.”

Dark Universe TV commercial

In the 60-second commercial for Epic Universe’s Dark Universe, an ominous voice summons a man named Josh toward the Dark Universe portal.

“Come to me,” the voice broods. As Josh finds himself in the village of Darkmoor, he encounters Dr. Victoria Frankenstein’s monster then rides Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment. The commercial shows a brief clip of Dracula saying “in your nightmare.”

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic TV commercial

The 30-second ad for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic is more information-based rather than the other story-driven Epic Universe commercials. Paired with footage from Universal’s previously posted virtual fly-through video are soundbites from Universal Creative artists:

  • “In The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, you’ll explore multiple eras of magical thrills and wonder.”
  • “This is the biggest thing we’ve ever built.”
  • “There are shops and restaurants to explore with nods to fantastic beasts throughout.”
  • “The show is mind-blowingly cool.”
  • “We have aerialists, special effects, puppetry, and so much more coming together.”
  • “You can just feel magical Paris surrounding you.”

More from Epic Universe

There’s plenty more where this came from!
