UPDATED: Reimagined shopping and dining coming to Downtown Disney

We’ve been reporting on the continued transformation of the Downtown Disney District, and now we have even more news about new shopping and dining locations coming to the Disneyland Resort in the next few months, including an Avengers-themed store, an expanded shop for sweet treats, and six brand new eateries.

Opening Dec. 6, 2024, Avengers Reserve celebrates Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, starting with Spider-Man watching over Downtown Disney from the top of the building and a 9-foot Incredible Hulk smashing through a wall.

The all-new store will carry comic books, collectibles, Super Hero-inspired apparel, and role-play toys, which will all be refreshed regularly.

Also opening on Dec. 6, 2024, D-Lander Shop will be the go-to place to shop for co-branded collections of apparel, handbags, and jewelry including Kate Spade, Dooney & Bourke, and a dedicated Pandora Jewelry shop-within-a-shop.

Disney Wonderful World of Sweets

Fans of Disney treats will be happy to learn that Marceline’s Confectionery is being reimagined (and expanded) and will open this winter as Disney Wonderful World of Sweets, a whimsical shop featuring churro toffee, caramel apples, sour balls, lollipops, packaged confections, and the same beloved freshly-made Werther’s Original Caramel popcorn found in Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort.

Just as before, guests can watch the sweet treats being handmade from an exhibition kitchen viewable from the promenade.

Downtown Disney Dining

The reimagined Downtown Disney District will see several new restaurants plus a new location for an old favorite.

Parkside Market

Opening this winter on the west end of the Downtown Disney District, Parkside Market will offer three distinctive dining locations: Seoul Sister, a fast-casual eatery serving Korean-style rice bowls; Sip & Sonder serving lattes, treats, and small bites; GG’s Chicken Shop serving chicken sandwiches, salads and classic dinner table sides.

New Steakhouse and BBQ Restaurant

The space formally occupied by Tortilla Joe’s will be the future home of a Steakhouse and BBQ Restaurant from another Michelin-starred chef, Joe Isidori, known for Arthur & Sons in New York and JOTORO Kitchen & Tequila Bar in Tampa, Fla.

Chef Isadori’s full-service steakhouse, called Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon, will offer prime cuts of beef, fresh seafood, sandwiches, and salads, plus a central bar serving a selection of bourbon and creative cocktails.

Next door, the quick-service Pearl’s Roadside BBQ will serve pulled pork, beef brisket, and smoked heritage turkey with house-made sauces. An outdoor bar will serve craft beers and moonshine cocktails.

An opening date for these new restaurants has not been announced, but construction is expected to start soon.

Porto’s Bakery and Café

Moving into the east end of the district, Porto’s Bakery and Café will not only serve its signature Cheese Rolls, Potato Balls, and other favorites from its popular Bakery and Café, but this will be the first Porto’s location with sit-down table service and a full bar.

Two-story Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney

We’ve all been on an emotional roller coaster with the Earl of Sandwich as the fan-favorite quick-service sandwich shop has been relocated several times, but the Earl will finally have an all-new two-story permanent home (and will introduce a new restaurant concept) on the west side of Downtown Disney.

The new Earl of Sandwich will be on the ground level, but the second floor will be home to an all-new table service concept, The Carnaby Tavern, an “homage to the swinging ‘60s ‘British Invasion’ pop and rock bands from the U.K.”

The Carnaby Tavern will feature a patio with an indoor/outdoor full-service bar.

Earl of Sandwich and Earl of Sandwich Tavern are both still open on the district’s east side, but a second pop-up location is also open on the west side (by Star Wars Trading Post). The Earl’s east side location will close in 2025 to make way for Porto’s Bakery.

Celebrate the Holiday Season in Downtown Disney

If you’re visiting the Disneyland Resort from Nov. 15, 2024 through Jan. 6, 2025, don’t skip Downtown Disney for seasonal decor, a new holiday ornament cart, special holiday menus at select restaurants, live music, and two special holiday activities:

  • Nightly Snowfall: Nov. 29, 2024 – Jan. 6, 2024 from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. at the Downtown Disney LIVE! stage and lawn with a special photo op from Disney Vacation Club
  • Chip and Dale’s Ornament Trail: Look for hidden ornaments on display from Nov. 22, 2024 through Jan. 1, 2025. Guests can purchase an activity map at select shopping locations in Downtown Disney and the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort to help their ornament search and redeem it at World of Disney or Disney’s Pin Traders for a holiday keepsake.
