Three new Mexican Dining Experiences Coming to Downtown Disney

Although Tortilla Jo’s is closing on April 7, 2024, three new Mexican restaurant concepts from the Patina Group and Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytán are coming to Downtown Disney this spring: Paseo, Centrico, and Tiendita.

Paseo, Centrico, and Tiendita at Downtown Disney District

Paseo

Downtown Disney’s new Mexican restaurant (in the space previously occupied by Catal) will blend Chef Gaytán’s cultural legacy with elevated cooking techniques.

From fresh shrimp ceviche to savory cochinita pibil (traditional slow-roasted pork), each dish is thoughtfully and artfully crafted.

“There’s a Mexico that very few in other parts of the world know,” the Chef said. “It’s my purpose to share it through my food.”

Centrico

The new open-air Mexican restaurant and cantina (the former Uva Bar) will feature specialty cocktails and authentic dishes inspired by Chef Carlos’s childhood in Mexico.

Tendita

Tiendita will offer quick-service Mexican street-food staples, including elements of the elevated dishes served at Paseo and Céntrico.

Highlights will include esquites (a popular street food made with roasted corn), tacos al pastor (thin slices of pork topped with roasted onions, cilantro, and salsa), and arroz con leche with cinnamon and vanilla topped with raisins—an elevated twist on Chef Gaytán’s childhood favorite dessert.

“Mexican culture embraces spending time with family and friends sharing a delicious meal together,” said Frank Moreno, vice president of operations at Patina Restaurant Group. “Tiendita will offer guests an expedited dining choice, while the experience remains true to this ethos and authenticity.”

Reservations for Tortilla Jo’s can be made until April 7, 2024, on the Disneyland app (subject to availability) Walk-in dining will be available through the final day of service.

Paseo, Centrico, and Tiendita are scheduled to open in spring 2024.

More New Downtown Disney Dining

Southern California’s favorite Cuban spot – famous for Cuban sandwiches, baked goods, and delicious empanadas and potato balls – Porto’s Bakery is coming to Downtown Disney, taking over the space near the esplanade previously occupied by La Brea Bakery and a temporary location of Earl of Sandwich, which will be moving to a new two-story location in the west end of the district offering a quick-service Earl of Sandwich shop on the ground level and a table-service gastropub upstairs.

Parkside Market at Downtown Disney

The still-under-construction Parkside Market will feature four dining spots:

  • Seoul Sister – A Korean-Californian fusion restaurant from Executive Chef Kelly Kim.
  • Sip & Sonder – An acclaimed L.A. café featuring Caribbean-inspired bites
  • GG’s Chicken Shop – A family-friendly eatery featuring a menu of comfort food
  • Al Fresco Bar – A double-decker pouring cocktails and mocktails crafted by expert mixologists

Also coming to the district’s west side in 2024 (across from Parkside Market) is the Din Tai Fung Chinese restaurant, renowned for noodles and dumplings that diners have been known to wait hours for.
