Fiesta del Mar celebrates Hispanic heritage at SeaWorld San Antonio

Fiesta del Mar, the “festival of the sea,” brings two weeks of rich Hispanic culture to SeaWorld San Antonio, from Aug. 27 through Sept. 6, with mariachi bands, flamenco performances, and tantalizing Mexican food and drinks.

Each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from Aug. 27 – Sept. 5, plus Labor Day (Sept. 6), the sights, sounds, and tastes of old Mexico will lend a lively Latin flair to the park, in celebration of San Antonio’s Hispanic heritage.

Dine and dance to the sounds of violins and vocals compliments of mariachi bands Melodicos, Vivo, Mariachis Las Altenas, and Faison Folklorico, as this second-annual fiesta combines tradition and the sea.

The must-try beverage is mangonada, a heady mango flavored drink that pairs beautifully with both sweet and salty foods. Margaritas, creamy Horchata with rum, Modelo, Dos Equis, and Tecate beers, wine, and soft drinks will also be available.

The south Texas city has a 50-year tradition of creating festival medals, and a collectable medal emblazoned with the Fiesta del Mar logo and San Antonio’s iconic arches will be offered for sale at SeaWorld’s event. Pass members visiting on Aug. 29 will receive a medal for free, while supplies last. Fiesta del Mar Market will carry this event-specific souvenir, as well as other themed merchandise.

When evening comes, the skies will light up with the Fiesta del Mar Fireworks finale, preceded by spectacular Folklorico pre-show dancers and set to a Latin music backdrop. Viewing areas are located at Bayside Stadium, along the banks of the water ski lake, from Lone Star Lakeside Bar, and throughout the park.

Discounted 2-day, 2-park tickets are available for a limited time, at just $65.99, for a savings of up to $22, as part of SeaWorld’s End of Summer Sale.
