Free family-friendly safari opens at Chessington World of Adventures
For the first time in the U.K., visitors to Chessington World of Adventures Resort can now be driven around the entire on-site safari in the Hyundai Kona Electric.
Research by Hyundai has found nearly half of all parents are cautious to do family activities due to the uncertainty around COVID-19. However, families who have endured months of lockdown can now spend quality time together as they are driven around by a resort Park Ranger.
During this guided safari, guests will see Grevy’s zebra, common eland, and ostrich. A park ranger will drive guests through the multiple enclosures, helping to ensure a positive and informative experience. Guests will also then explore the home of Chessington’s five Rothschild’s giraffes and make a special stop to climb up and hand-feed the giraffes.
Hyundai partnered with Chessington to give families this new way to get out of the house. The Kona Electric SUV has a near silent motor which doesn’t disturb the animals and lets guests get as close as possible.
“While we offer VIP Experiences at the Resort, we’ve never offered such a unique safari encounter, allowing guests to greet giraffe, zebra and ostrich from a vehicle that they could equally find themselves driving on the road,” said Tom Brough, VIP manager at Chessington World of Adventures Resort. “It’s also great that the Kona Electric emits no harmful emissions and is near silent, which is ideal as we slowly reopen and reacquaint the animals back to some semblance of normality.”
