Gatorland has reopened to guests with a new social distancing expert on the prowl to help keep guests six feet apart—the “Social Distancing Skunk Ape.”
Social Distancing Skunk Ape, the Florida Cryptid, knows all about how to keep away from people and Gatorland felt he was perfect for the job. He’s known to be more elusive than his cousin, Bigfoot, and is “insistent that you stay distant.” He’s also big on keeping your hands clean and sanitizing regularly.
Gatorland’s Social Distancing Skunk Ape has also made appearances in the park’s YouTube show, “Gatorland Vlogs,” as well as their Facebook morning show, “School of Croc.” He’s also featured in informative in-park videos, and randomly appears in the park for meet-and-greets… from a safe distance, of course.
“Skunk Ape is uniquely qualified on keeping people apart,” says Mark McHugh, president and CEO of Gatorland. “We have kids who watch School of Croc calling Skunk Ape their hero. Our super fans and park guests will learn a lot from him, for sure.”
