The Apocalypso waterslide coaster will send riders down and up hills, including an incline that takes riders nearly vertical. One of its drops will be the largest in the U.S. for a waterslide of this kind, called a Blasterango, manufactured by the WhiteWater West aquatic design company.

Riders will reach speeds of up to 30 mph along Apocalypso’s 418 feet of slide.

Apocalypso is part of a new tower at Margaritaville’s water park that will be home to four tube slides total. The others are:

  • Serpentine Storm, sending riders in a spiral
  • Dreamsicle Dive, featuring enclosed and open-air sections
  • Mango Mania, providing a mild thrill for younger guests

The additions will earn Margaritaville’s water park the title of Georgia’s largest waterslide complex.

“High-Speed Intensity Thrills and Family Fun”

“Bucky” Perry, vice president of Margaritaville at Lanier Islands, calls the new tower “an epic addition.”

“For those seeking an escape and a nonstop day of high-speed intensity thrills and family fun, Margaritaville at Lanier Islands is the place to be,” Perry said.

The water park is one portion of the Margaritaville site in Buford, Ga. near Atlanta, on the shores of Lake Lanier. The destination also hosts a lakeside beach, water sports, lake cruises, and Camp Margaritaville RV Resort. During winter, guests can enjoy snow tubing and ice skating in lieu of the water park’s seasonal closure. Lanier Islands is also home to an assortment of other hotels and recreational activities.

“The water park at Lanier Islands has created unforgettable memories for generations of families in the southeast and we’re excited to be part of its ongoing transformation,” said Jordanna Bower, vice president of business development at WhiteWater West. “With these new waterslides, that cover a range of thrill levels, kids and parents will be able to enjoy the rides together.”

Also in 2024, Camp Margaritaville will add a pool, pickleball court, and playground to its onsite amenities.
