Golf at ‘The Most Magical Place on Turf’

The state of Florida is known for golf, but even if you’re visiting for a magical theme park vacation, you can still play 18… or 36… or a total of 63 holes of golf right on Walt Disney World Resort property.

Walt Disney World Resort is home to four golf courses – Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course, Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course, Disney’s Palm Golf Course, and Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course – each offering something different. New golfers can check out the nine-hole course at Disney’s Oak Trail, while more experienced players might enjoy the challenge of the par-4 18th hole at Disney’s Palm, considered one of the most difficult holes on the PGA Tour.

In fact, golf fans will find plenty to be excited about when it comes to Walt Disney World’s offerings, including the fact that Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Vijay Singh, Payne Stewart, Davis Love III, Luke Donald, Larry Nelson, Hal Sutton, and Mark O’Meara have all won PGA Tour events on Walt Disney World Resort Golf Courses.

But that’s not all! Select courses also offer driving ranges and practice greens for golfers to hone their skills – and for those who are looking to up their game, private lessons from PGA and LPGA professionals (including video analysis) are available at any of the four courses.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Walt Disney World without some incredible technology. A fleet of premium Yamaha golf carts was recently introduced at Disney’s Palm, Magnolia, and Lake Buena Vista Golf Courses; each cart is equipped with a cutting-edge touchscreen Yamatrack GPS system to provide overviews of every hole, along with yardage from the cart to the flagstick.

More state-of-the-art technology is available in the form of Robo-Caddies, a small, robotic golf cart that employs GPS and Bluetooth technology to transport clubs safely around Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course. Golfers clip the cart’s small transmitter to their belt, load their golf bag, and focus on their next shot as the autonomous cart follows a few paces behind at a walking speed.

For something just a little bit different, Walt Disney World is also home to a 9-hole Foot Golf course. In case you’ve never heard of Foot Golf, it’s just like regular golf, except it’s played with a soccer ball and… your foot. The unique sport, which has grown in popularity in recent years, is available in the afternoons at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course.
