Graceland celebrates Elvis Presley’s birthday with exclusive tour, Zoom panel and more

From Jan. 7-9, Graceland will be honoring Elvis Presley for what would be his 86th birthday. Starting Jan. 7 at Graceland’s AAA four-diamond rated resort The Guest House, “Blue Hawaii” will be kicking off The King’s birthday. Later in the evening, Graceland’s Vice President of Archives Angie Marchese and “Gates of Graceland” host Tom Brown will perform an exclusive after-hours tour of Presley’s home, offering inside scoops not usually seen on regular tours.

On Jan. 8 at 9 a.m., the annual Elvis birthday proclamation ceremony will take place in the Graceland Soundstage. A birthday cake will be cut in honor of the rock-and-roller and Graceland as well as Shelby County officials will be in attendance. Fans who can’t join in person can also view the ceremony online. Making its debut later in the evening, Dean Z will be hosting an evening of live music from the birthday boy himself.

On the last day of the festivities, a special “Conversations on Elvis” hosted by Brown will include stories and memories from Elvis’ old bandmates, friends and colleagues. Because of the pandemic, only one in-person guest will be announced, but other stories will be shared through newly recorded Zoom interviews.

The Elvis Birthday Bash will finish off The King’s birthday, featuring a private evening tour of Graceland. The tour will include live tour guides and Christmas music echoing throughout the property. Tickets for the tour and other birthday events can be purchased online.
