First haunted house of Halloween Horror Nights 2024 revealed
Universal Orlando revealed the first of 10 haunted houses coming to Halloween Horror Nights 2024: Slaughter Sinema 2.

Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) returns to Universal Studios Florida at Universal Orlando Resort select nights Aug. 30 – Nov. 3, 2024.
Tonight during the HHN panel at the Spooky Empire horror convention, Universal shared the first of many haunted house announcements for this year’s event: Slaughter Sinema 2, a sequel to 2018’s Slaughter Sinema house, itself a campy tribute to slasher films.
On social media, Universal said of Slaughter Sinema 2, “If you’re dying for a b-movie horror marathon, head to the Carey drive-in. Scream through scenes from creature features, grindhouse gore, spaghetti westerns, and more.”
Halloween Horror Nights 2024, otherwise known as HHN33 (signifying the number of years the event has taken place), will feature 10 haunted houses, five scare zones, and a live show. So far, Slaughter Sinema 2 is the only specific attraction Universal has announced.
Following the announcement, a scareactor who will appear in the house surprised attendees at Spooky Empire, as seen in this X post from HHNSpeculationMatt:
Carey, Ohio, An HHN Classic
Although Slaughter Sinema 2 isn’t based on a pre-existing IP or movie franchise, its story is a continuation of original lore compounded from HHNs of years past. The house will take place in Carey, Ohio, a fictional setting that HHN has utilized over a dozen times.
Discover Universal, an official Universal Orlando blog, says Carey has been “incorporated into the lives and origins of numerous [HHN] characters including The Director, The Usher, Legendary Truth, Cindy Caine, and H.R. Bloodengutz. The town also pops up as one of the more frequent settings for houses and scare zones, finally earning top billing for HHN30’s Welcome to SCarey: Horror in the Heartland.”
