Universal Orlando Resort has announced another original haunted house for Halloween Horror Nights 35, ‘Madlands: Caged Cannibals.’

According to Universal, guests will enter a defunct zoo that has become the deadly territory of warring cannibal factions. The groups have taken their animal instincts to extreme levels, creating a brutal battleground where visitors become the prey.

“In this haunted house, a defunct zoo is now the deadly domain of warring cannibal factions that have taken their animal instincts to extremes,” Universal said in the announcement. “They’re territorial. They’re hungry. And you’re lunch.”

The announcement artwork hints at a decaying zoo overtaken by graffiti and destruction. Madlands: Caged Cannibals joins the growing lineup of original haunted houses revealed for Halloween Horror Nights 35, which runs on select nights from Aug. 28 through Nov. 1 at Universal Studios Florida.

While the abandoned zoo setting is new for Halloween Horror Nights, the concept may feel reminiscent of the cannibal-infested world of 2009’s ‘Apocalypse: City of Cannibals‘ scare zone, one of the event’s most memorable original post-apocalyptic concepts. HHN veterans may also draw comparisons to past originals, including ‘Terra Cruentus,’ with savage world-building and the need for human blood, and ‘Leave It to Cleaver,’ which centered on a community with a taste for human flesh.
