PHOTOS: Inside the Halloween Horror Nights Tribute Store at Universal Orlando
Halloween Horror Nights kicks off this Friday, Sept. 6 at Universal Orlando Resort, but the event’s Tribute Store has just materialized at Universal Studios Florida.
This year’s Tribute Store has three rooms themed to three of this year’s different IPs: “Ghostbusters,” “Stranger Things,” and Universal Classic Monsters.
Inside the “Ghostbusters” room, you’ll find plenty of Easter eggs covering everything from basic references to the deepest of cuts.
The refrigerator that Slimer is sitting on hides many “Ghostbusters” references in the form of maps, restaurant menus, notes, and more. There’s also a bulletin board covered in loose papers, news clippings, and fliers worth perusing.
If you look hard enough, you’ll even find a touching tribute to Michael Aiello, senior director of creative development for Universal Orlando and Halloween Horror Nights – who recently announced his departure from that team to work on Universal’s new theme park, Universal’s Epic Universe.
Also in this area is plenty of “Ghostbusters” merchandise for every ghoul on your shopping list.
Making its return to this year’s event is “Stranger Things,” so naturally it also had to have its own themed room in the Tribute Store.
You can even snap a quick photo with a Demodog if you’re careful!
The walls in this room are covered in the Byers’ makeshift map of Hawkins from Season 2 of the show.
There’s even a reference to New Coke, which had its own spotlight in Season 3.
Last, but not least, is the Universal Classic Monsters-themed room, packed with all the steampunk-esque, Victorian-inspired décor that your spooky little heart could desire.
Here you’ll find plenty of Universal Classic Monsters merchandise to show everyone who your favorite baddie is.
The décor used in this room definitely leans more toward the macabre than the previous rooms.
In one section of the room, you’ll even find this grotesque creature incubating in some kind of tub-like contraption.
The Halloween Horror Nights Tribute Store is open today, Sept. 4, but only to Universal Orlando Annual Passholders and Team Members. The store will be closed on Thursday, Sept. 5, but will be open to everyone when the event begins on Friday, Sept. 6. Until then, you can check out our video tour of the Tribute Store below:
