Hatbox Ghost to materialize at the Magic Kingdom

To celebrate the release of “The Haunted Mansion” movie, which opened today in theaters, one of the movie’s stars has decided to pack up his hatbox and move to Orlando, where he’ll welcome guests to the swinging wake as they pass the Endless Hallway. Temporary barriers will materialize soon as the park prepares for his arrival.

Props and Costumes from “The Haunted Mansion”

For a limited time, park goers in California can see an exhibit featuring concept artwork, props, and costumes from the new film inside Disneyland’s Opera House on Main Street, U.S.A., including the elaborate dress worn by Madame Leota (played by Jamie Lee Curtis).

A similar display of props and costumes from the new live-action movie will be coming soon to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida.

“Haunted Mansion” Eats and Treats at Disney Parks

Both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort will be serving spooky snacks inspired by “Haunted Mansion.”

At Disneyland:

• Haunted Mansion Menu (at Café Orleans) –  Pre-fixe menu featuring a vanilla mousse candle
• April-December Churro (at the New Orleans Square Churro Cart) – Strawberry-flavored sugar with fresh strawberries, purple cherry sugar, freeze-dried strawberries, and donut icing drizzle
• Constance Concoction (at Harbour Galley) – Potato and leek soup topped with pea flower crème fraiche, herb oil, and fried leeks served in a sourdough bread bowl
• Pickwick Ghost Punch (at Royal Street Veranda and Harbour Galley‌) – A combination of fruit, citrus juices, and sherbet (Non-alcoholic)
• Crystal Ball Cereal Treat (at Candy Palace and Candy Kitchen) – Cereal treat in black-colored dark chocolate with teal and black M&M’S embellished with a Madame Leota chocolate piece

Plus, Disneyland will offer a Hatbox Ghost Sipper at select locations in New Orleans Square and Critter Country.

At Walt Disney World:

• Playful Spirits Margarita (at Scat Cat’s Club at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter) – Made with Patron Silver Tequila with a Fess Parker Big Easy Red Floater
• Caretakers Beignets (at Scat Cat’s Club at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter) – Mickey-shaped beignets dusted with cookies and cream powdered sugar and a marshmallow crème drizzle.
• Peanut Butter and Jelly Push Pop (at Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom)
• Happy Haunts Shake (at Columbia Harbor House in Magic Kingdom) – Blackberry shake topped with purple chocolate-glazed doughnut covered with black sprinkles.

Looks inspired by the “Haunted Mansion”can be found at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, and on shopDisney, including the Hatbox Ghost long-sleeve t-shirt, a women’s Haunted Mansion t-shirt, and two t-shirt designs for kids.

For those looking to toast to the spirits, a blood-red mug features a plaque with Master Gracey’s initial between pictures of Gracey Manor and Crump Manor – the haunted homes from the attractions.

Madame Leota and Harriet Take to Sea

The Disney Conservation Fund (DCF) and Disney Cruise Line are each sponsoring a turtle honoring characters from the live-action film, one named Madame Leota and the other named Harriet (played by Tiffany Haddish). Partner organization Sea Turtle Conservancy will track the two turtles to determine how far and where they swim during their annual migration, with the one who swims the farthest distance winning the “Tour de Turtles.”

Data collected during Tour de Turtles will help researchers, conservationists, and governing agencies make better decisions about sea turtle conservation across Florida.
