New hidden Mickeys at Disney World in leaves placed by cast and guests
Have you spotted the new type of hidden Mickeys showing up around Walt Disney World?

Hiding in plain sight
You may have heard of hidden Mickeys — or stumbled upon a few of them yourself. Hidden Mickeys are objects or designs in Disney theme parks intentionally shaped like Mickey Mouse’s head and ears. Some are quite cleverly disguised, and require a sharp eye to notice. Others are not-so-hidden, but fun to spot nonetheless.
Sometimes hidden Mickeys are built into architecture or utilities, such as those pictured below on an air vent at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. These types of hidden Mickeys are semi-permanent, and unlikely to change unless their surrounding area or attraction is majorly redesigned.

Other hidden Mickeys are more temporary. These types of tributes to the mouse are so short-lived they could disappear with the wind. They aren’t permanently embedded into a theme park’s design, but rather placed there after the fact as a special touch by front-line Disney cast members. Mickeys painted by custodial crews with their brooms on the cement or Mickey-shaped towels left in your hotel room by the hospitality staff are examples of this type of hidden Mickey, as are the rocks in Epcot’s aquariums or any leaves strewn about in Mickey’s likeness.

Introducing the hole-punch hidden Mickey
Speaking of leaves, there’s a relatively new type of hidden Mickey you may have spotted in the parks. Look closely the next time you see some foliage lying around on the ground at Walt Disney World. You might just find a leaf that’s specially cut in the silhouette of not just Mickey’s head, but his whole body.
Take a look in this TikTok video by granny.magic.mouse posted last February. She found the leaf art at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and even met the cast member who sprinkles the Mickeys around.
Facebook user Krystal Griffith also spotted one of these Mickey leaves, pictured below with permission.

Reddit user Songibal also spotted hole-punch-cut hidden Mickeys in leaves on the ground at Epcot. Reddit user Jaceinla even found one out west at Disneyland in California. In these cases, the Mickeys were cut in the traditional head-only shape.
The trend is still going strong, with another Mickey leaf reported as recently as this week by Facebook user Kelly Martini-Hazard. Other Facebook users commented that they had created and hidden some of the leaves in the parks themselves, both by their own initiative as guests and as a “magic moment” prompted by cast members.
