When Disneyland super fan John Stamos hit the stage at the Honda Center during D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, he announced that the Disneyland Resort will celebrate its 70th birthday in 2025, and two Disneyland 70th anniversary books will also mark the momentous milestone.

The Happiest Place on Earth: The Incredible Story of Walt Disney’s Disneyland (Release Date: July 15, 2025)
Written by Disney Legend Don Hahn and Imagineer Christopher Merritt (with a foreword by Disney CEO Bob Iger), The Happiest Place on Earth: The Incredible Story of Walt Disney’s Disneyland look backs at “the theme park that started it all.”
The hardcover book features more than 750 images and is organized by the park’s five original lands: Main Street, U.S.A., Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. It also includes sidebars about the “lost lands” visitors would’ve experienced in the 1950s and 1960s.
Disneyland is the only park Walt walked through and tinkered with during the last 11 years of his life. For Disneyland’s 70th anniversary, Disney fans will get an in-depth visual look at the planning and creation of those first 11 years of Walt Disney’s original theme park. This treasure trove of Disney history will take fans through the pre-production and realization process Walt used during the earliest days of his nascent theme park.
Source materials come from the Walt Disney Imagineering Art Library and other unique sources, including private collectors and the Library of Congress, showcasing concepts for realized (and unrealized) attractions designed for Disneyland, as well as recently discovered artwork and previously unpublished documents and images.
