Holiday World launches new drone show, ‘Holidays in the Sky’

Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari celebrates the major holidays of Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and the Fourth of July with a new drone show, “Holidays in the Sky.”

From June 18-July 31, the skies over Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari amusement park and water park in Santa Clause, Indiana, will light up with 300 LED-lit drones, forming “pictures in the sky” that represent major U.S. holidays.

The show lasts for 15 minutes and features images such as Santa’s Sleigh, an American flag, Santa’s face, and a collection of Christmas stockings, candy canes, snowflakes, and stars, ending with a grand fireworks finale.

“This is an experience you truly have to see to believe,” said fourth-generation owner and Director of Entertainment & Special Events, Lauren Crosby. “When the drones first take flight and the lights start to turn into rotating Christmas trees or a waving American flag, it’s indescribable.”

The show is sponsored by German American Bank, and each 700-foot-wide animated light display will take place above the holiday sections of the park.

A DJ-led dance party in the Thanksgiving area’s German American Bank Party Plaza kicks off the nighttime extravaganza.

“This is a custom show. You won’t be able to find anything like this in the world,” Crosby added. “‘Holidays in the Sky’ is going to be a huge hit with families, and we can’t wait for the spectacle to start!”

New entertainment will also come to the park throughout the summer, including a stunt dog show, magician, juggler, ventriloquist, and more.

“We are always looking for new ways for our guests to experience our park and make memories with their families,” Crosby said. “With drones, fireworks, and a variety of shows, it’s going to be a great summer at Holiday World!”

“Holidays in the Sky” will begin at 8:30 p.m. when the park closes at 8 p.m., and at 9 p.m. when the park closes at 9 p.m.

Platinum Season Passholders can enjoy an exclusive preview on June 17.

Holiday World will open for the season on May 14, and Splashin’ Safari will open on May 19.
