Hong Kong Disneyland announces details for 2023 Chinese New Year celebration
Hong Kong Disneyland Resort is gearing up for “A Magical Year of the Rabbit” with the month-long Chinese New Year Celebration full of festive new character outfits and limited edition experiences, food, and drinks.
To celebrate the Chinese New Year — which occurs this year on Sunday, Jan. 22. — Hong Kong Disneyland has planned a whole month of festivities from Jan. 13-Feb. 12, 2023, including characters in special costumes, Disney-themed Chinese New Year gifts, and a menu of specialty food and drink items.
StellaLou, a member of Duffy and Friends, is the star of the Year of the Rabbit celebration. Guests can meet her and LinaBell in their debut Chinese New Year outfits at My Journeys with Duffy – presented by Fujifilm outside the Main Street Cinema.
StellaLou also graces the packaging for specialty Lai See envelopes, a Chinese New Year tradition, which are filled with chocolate gold coins and Hong Kong Disneyland coupons. Guests can find these souvenirs at the park’s main entrance and at the resort hotels.
Other Disney characters will also be dressed in Chinese New Year outfits and appearing at shows and throughout the park, including the rest of the Duffy and Friends crew and Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Chip ‘n’ Dale, and Pluto. Find these characters along Main Street U.S.A., Fantasy Gardens, and Fantasyland.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Disney celebration without festive food and treats. Here are some of the offerings you’ll find during the Chinese New Year celebration at Hong Kong Disneyland:

The Hong Kong Disneyland resort hotels also have festive menus, including buffet lunches and dinners and dishes featuring traditional Chinese New Year foods.
As for gifts, there is a special collection of Chinese New Year souvenirs that include plushes of Duffy and Friends and Mickey and Minnie as well as more than 80 themed items — Disney Lai See packets, ornaments and collectibles, and clothing.
For those staying at a resort hotel, there are two Chinese New Year upgrade options. The first is the StellaLou package, which includes a StellaLou plush, headband, stickers, bag charm, and a cushion. The other package is the Starlight Picnic, which includes a designated outdoor leisure lawn area at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, a two-hour Disney movie viewing, and a Disney-themed picnic basket of food and drinks for two people.
