H.R. Bloodengutz returns to Halloween Horror Nights 2026 – first house in 15 years
Halloween Horror Nights is bringing back a cult-favorite original character for a new live entertainment experience this fall. Universal Orlando Resort has announced “H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular!,” a new house starring the fictional horror host who first terrorized guests at Halloween Horror Nights more than a decade ago. Set inside the WKNB television studio, the production promises a haunted broadcast filled with ghouls, gore and over-the-top scares as Bloodengutz returns to the airwaves for another fright-filled special.
Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) is a separately ticketed event at Universal Studios Florida featuring haunted houses, scare zones, and live entertainment. This announcement for a new H.R. Bloodengutz house adds to the growing lineup of experiences coming to Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 35th year.
What we know about H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular!
Universal Orlando has revealed only a few details about “H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular!” so far, but the announcement confirms the haunted house will center on the infamous horror host and his fictional television station, WKNB. Guests will “tune into” a Halloween scare-a-thon filled with ghouls, gore and other frightful encounters as Bloodengutz returns to the spotlight.

The character first appeared in the 2011 Halloween Horror Nights haunted house “H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: Holidays of Horror,” which followed the deranged television personality as he transformed a live broadcast into a deadly spectacle.
While Universal has not yet shared a full storyline for the new haunted house, the announcement suggests guests will once again find themselves trapped inside one of Bloodengutz’s twisted productions, this time with a Halloween-focused theme.
The history of H.R. Bloodengutz at Halloween Horror Nights
H.R. Bloodengutz is the on-air horror host persona of Larry Kurtzberg, a washed-up actor who took a job hosting late-night B-movies on WKNB-TV in Carey, Ohio. Think of him as a twisted blend of classic horror hosts like Elvira or Svengoolie.
As the show became popular, Larry became obsessed with the character and demanded everyone call him H.R. Bloodengutz. When the station decided to cancel his increasingly disturbing holiday-themed horror program, he snapped, kidnapped members of the production staff, tortured them during a final live broadcast, and fully embraced the Bloodengutz persona.
While Bloodengutz has appeared in Easter eggs and references throughout the years, including a callback in 2021’s “Welcome to SCarey: Horror in the Heartland,” he has not headlined a haunted house since his debut 15 years ago. That makes “H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular!” his first starring role at Halloween Horror Nights since 2011 and one of the event’s most significant revivals of an original character in recent years.
